Obviously the community doesn't give a fuck about this.
The Half-life 2 movie had a budget of about 500 dollars! That's nothing - and yet it's one of the best fan movies ever made.
and nothing stops the thief community from making a similar thing.

Besides, hiring a few guns and some dude with a beard who's willing to be called Gordon and not say much, is a bit easier than making a period piece set almost entirely at night.

What about a Thief radio-type show? There are plenty of good voice actors judging from the FM's (I'm looking at you SlyFoxx!) and script writers I'd imagine. It'd be easier to do than a movie for virtually no money. It could be made into some kind of podcast? With awesome ambient and electronic music like you'd find in the Thief games? I think that would be better than a Thief movie.
