Of course we're talking about 45% of the Scots, not 45% of the Brits.
Maybe you think: "it's only 2% of the Brits, so fuck em" ? That's a good representation of current day's democracy. If 51% of the population wants to fuck over 49%, they think they have the right to do so. Because they are the majority. Way to go.
BTW, you don't know how the Welsh and Northern-Irish think about independence. When they get to vote, that 2% will go up. But even without those votes, I still think that having 45% of your citizens in one area wanting to leave your nation, that is a clear sign that something went wrong.

One of the few places I can say this in 'relative' anonymity.
FUCK YOU SCOTLAND YOU BUNCH OF SPINELESS FUCKING WANKERS!
Apologies to the English to for this, I truly hold no ill will to our long suffering cousins down south.

Only positives to take from today (and it is through gritted teeth) is.
A) great turn out so, you know, go democracy and all.
B) it is gonnea be hilarious holding the 'We fucking told you so' sign up to 55% of the nation (sorry region) when Scotland is royally shafted in the very near future. Broken promises in less than 24 hours has got to be a record.
C) the youth voted yes at 75% so possibly sometime in the future. (Though I can't bring myself to mouth our clearly redundant 'national' (sorry regional) anthem at this time).
D) The over 65 years old people voted in greatest percentage for No, so the most selfish generation on the planet were just being true to form (fucking baby boomers).
E)I am pretty sure I have skills needed by Canada or Australia.
So in summary.......
FUCK YOU SCOTLAND. I AM ASHAMED AND EMBARRASSED AND HEART BROKEN. YOU ALMOST DESERVE WHAT IS COMING TO YOU FROM YOUR RATIFIED POLITICAL MASTERS! I WILL HOLD EACH AND EVERY NO VOTER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIT THAT COMES OUR WAY. I will work with you and try to build a better UK, but I will also blame you when things go wrong. No more can you blame England, you can't even blame Westminster... YOU did this. In full informed social media and internet enabled knowledge. I promise I will not work against you, but I will fucking hold YOU fucking responsible for each pound paid to Trident, and each unneed hungry stomach in a food bank not addressed in a timely manner.
(At least till I can find an exist route out of this snivelling disgrace of a 'country'... and I use the term loosely.)
(As a side note, I raised concerns about a No vote (politely) on a 'No' campaign Facebook page, and challenged people to give responses to my concerns (as seen in previous posts here). I got censored and banned from the page. Well.... you now have your way 55% of Scotland... so you better have some bloody good answers! We already know Westminster doesn't give a shit - so the ball is in your court now!)

The way you put it suggested that half of the UK wanted to split, not a portion of one of its countries. Given that you were rolling your eyes in preparation of the spin that was inevitable, that seemed a little hypocritical.

Maybe. I certainly think that Scotland deserves greater devolutionary powers and I'll support them in that endeavour. I'll also support a separate English parliament that stops Scottish MPs voting on English matters, so it works both ways.

I would say that if 45% of your citizens vote to leave your country, that's not a clear signal that the Scots do not love the UK so much. I would say it's a clear signal that something is very very wrong.
(
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29255449) Only 4 districts had a majority yes vote - that's how our voting system works. I also think it's worth remembering that the (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-13326310) Scots who live in England were not allowed to vote. English people living in Scotland, even though temporarily as in e.g. going to university for 3 years, were allowed to vote. How fair is that?

That means the 800,000 Scots who live in other parts of the UK don't get a vote, while the 400,000 people from elsewhere in Britain who live in Scotland do.

That sounds completely sensible.
Only thous who live in a location and are hence most affected/invested should have a say in deciding the fate of the location. Exceptions - which of i, who has never been around that part of the planet, am not sufficiently familiar with to comment (historic foul play [inc. biases from ingress and egress policies] / interdependence considerations [inc. owner's woes] / etc) - excepted.
Someone educate me - what is the relevant stuff i am not aware of that makes it particularly unfair?
