I'm just eagerly anticipating playing a new Thief game and not being required to tweak my PC in any way to make the game run properly.

It all depends on whether it's going to be released on the current generation of consoles, or on the next generation, whatever they may be or whenever they may be released.

Most likely current generation, and we all know what that means: everything must fit into half a gigabyte of RAM.

Since my PC is pretty old by all standards I'll opt for a somewhat easier
"playing a new Thief game on a PC I can get for under 200 currency units".
I don't know what you can get for 200 bucks, but the best I can think about in the price range has... intel graphics. No thanks.
I may break the limit to go for a ION2. By no means I am going to spend more than 500 for a
play machine. I am of the opinion that this kind of industry cannot sustain itself anymore. With the cost of game development constantly going up, it is their interest to shift to a more affordable model for everybody.
I agree with Abysmal for more realistic expectations.

Most of us original taffers are probably old enough now that we're no longer broke-ass students and we can actually afford nice computers. :P

Same thing he says (
http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/982/982148p1.html) here:
"As for platforms and consoles, things are moving so fast. There's some contradictory noise on when there's going to be the next generation, so we're going to be prudent on that one," said D'Astous. "So we're going to wait a couple of months to announce more about that. It's going to be cutting edge technology, that's for sure. It would be imprudent for us to say which console because, first of all, we don't know exactly the window of release and we don't know the first-party strategy."
All they did on that french website is translate that bit from ign. That's the only thing they ever do really, translate something from gamespot or ign, they never have any significant piece of news.

I must admit that I agree with Abysmal. I'm sure that Thief 4 will be released on the current generation consoles (X360, PS3, not sure about Wii), not on the next generation's. Therefore, you, guys and girls, may relax about system requirements for Thief 4 - I think it will be: multi-core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, SM3-capable graphics card.

I'll be getting it for PC and build one accordingly if current set up doesn't match so I don't mind. The Xbox360 and PS3 certainly have enough power for something special though so there is no need to wait for the next gen.
