WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS
Whichever bright-spark came up with "Thi4f" should be shot, repeatedly, and fed to the zombies.

ohgod. No offense c130 dear, but where's your sense of humor? ;)

It's a temporary title. Although I hope that they name it just Thief IV.
The deadly shadows thing was a bit lame, in my opinion.

I would be ok with just "Thief: Insert non-lame sub-title that actually relates to the plot here"
whichever their marketing dept thinks best
however, deadly shadows was indeed a bit lame

It seems to me that the roman numeral IV doesn't look very good in the Thief title font, so I wouldn't mind if they stuck with 4, though I doubt the number will stick around into the final title in any form...

Who's to say it was in roman numerals... maybe they were using the "I, II, III, IIII, and IIII with a slash through it for 5" system :p

Besides the obvious point that 1337-speak (especially misspelled and misused 1337-speak -- Thiaf? :erm:) doesn't belong in the Thief world, it is a little disappointing how that awkward spelling and logo is literally the only noteworthy thing about the game's announcement.
I mean, it's literally the only new point of discussion as a result of the announcement. :joke:

Too true, Twist. ;)
At first I suspected that the inclusion of a 4 at all was an indication that this would not be a reboot as I had initially imagined/hoped/feared, but then I remembered the big 3 they have on their Deus Ex logo, a game which is, for all intents and purposes, a reboot of the series (it's a prequel, after all). So, in the end, all we know is that someone at Eidos Monty thought that THI4F was a fun way to give everyone a first impression of their project. :p
