I can run Thief 2 on my Geforece 6600GT/Windows 2000 it runs fine. I wonder if there is another issue.
The anisotropic filtering makes the distance rendering look nice.
It runs fine, but do you have the ugly skies, too? And does the dark engine support anisotropic filtering?

My computer is a brand new Thinkpad T60, with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 card. Plays every Thief beautifully and on max settings (including Thief III and Thievery UT), and it runs Doom 3 fine for when the Dark Mod comes out.
I've never really had a problem getting Thief 1 or 2 to play properly. Certainly, I often need to install them in Safe Mode, apply some patches, but the process isn't that hard (assuming you know what to do) and I've never had them not run due to video card incompatibilities.

The GeForce 5950 Ultra is the card in my rig
Its a great card if somewhat bulky, make sure you'ev got room under your AGP port.
The dark engine games run fine. but I had problems when installing the latest drivers. System Shock 2 wouldn't run so i roll them back and it worked. I jsut started playing thief gold today ( i never played the gold edition ) and it works absolutly fine with everything turned up.
Just make sure if you're using a multiple core CPU or have hyperthreading that you go into your task manager. right click on the thief process and click affinity and make sure only one box is checked. The dark engine crashes if you dont. Its only designed to run from one CPU
Note: If you're a fan of the source engine it might not be the greatest card to pick.. Valve is in bed with ATI so the Direct X 9 capability of the card is disabled in most source games.. which includes HL2 and dark messsiah. you have to run it in DX8 mode.

Oh yeah, thanks for the advice my fellow taffer.
By the way, the card just came yesterday and it is in my brother's home.
I think i'll go to his house next week and after a clean format and everything
i'll post what's going on with the card.
Until then.
