Feeling a bit nostalgic I've reinstalled Thief 1 but I suddenly noticed that orrible bobbing which make me feel sick after few minutes. It's since HL1 where bobbing could be disabled that I became more and more intolerant to that unrealistic and artificial effect. My question is: is there some way to reduce or disable it?
The other question is simpler. I would like to use mouse scroller to select objects, but I can't bind it to anything. Is there a way ?
Thanks!

Welcome aboard.
As for head bob. No
As for mouse wheel. For T1, not that I'm aware. But somebody around here might have come up with something. Thief Gold does support mouse wheel.

Unless you're playing a character in a wheelchair, headbob is NOT unrealistic.
And no, Thief: Gold doesn't support the mouse wheel.

You can use the scroll wheel in Thief II. You can also seperate atmosphere sounds from main sounds with keybinds.

Oh that's right. With gold it's just the "wheel button" that works and not teh wheel itself.

It's totally unrealistic, instead. Do you
feel your head moving up and down while walking ? No! That's because our brains automatically compensate the bobbing with the information coming from the hears equilibrium organ.
While playing with bobbing the brain receives discordant informations: the hears tells the brain the head is perfectly firm while the eyes tells the brain it's moving up and down. This is the very same effects which causes car sickness when looking inside the car (in this case hears are moving while eyes are not)
Anyway thanks all for the answers :thumb: , unfortunately negatives :( . <= EDIT: This was before Spitter post :thumb: :thumb:

Yes. And I can see it, too. Headbob in Thief is subtle compared to reality. I wonder, if you'd motion capture the headbob, and sync the footstep sounds to the motion capture data, how would that feel?

When I look for my vision bobbing when walking in RL then yes. I do see it. Otherwise I don't particularly notice it.
But you know what? I didn't even notice the head bobbing thing in thief either until you mentioned it. So it seems pretty realistic to me...
Also. The sound and placement of your feet is very important in game. Head bobbing assists in knowing when precisely your footstep will fall.
Also Also. You can REALLY notice it in RL when running. Since I think most of run as default in game than this is also realistic.
Not trying to be petty here but just saying...

I think that using [] for inventory is more realistic and greatly increases atmosphere.
