couple of questions regarding playing thief 1 (new to game):
1) before installing the Tfix update (1.14) i was able to play Thief Gold (GOG) on my CRT (driven by Radeon card).
after installing Tfix, when i start the game it shows up on my LCD display (driven by the integrated Intel HD 3000 chip) which i don't normally have turned on.
for the time being i would like to play it on my CRT (at some point i may switch to the LCD). is there a way to force the game (using some configuration option) to use the Radeon adapter so i can play it on the CRT?
2) i did notice a 'safemode.bat' in the folder which starts Thief and it has a '-use_d3d_display' parameter option. i'm not sure if the minus sign is negating the option since for some programs the parameter options use the minus sign as an indicator of an option. also, i don't know if this file was present before i installed Tfix or Tfix placed it there.
is 'use_d3d_display' being negated or used and why when i use safemode.bat does the game start up on my CRT? while this lets me play the game on my CRT i'm not sure exactly what it does and if i lose game quality, speed, etc.
3) when i do run the game using 'safemode.bat' and select 1280x1024x32 i'm not sure if i am getting an increased resolution. for example, when i do the "Start Training" and go down through the first hallway the graphics look the same as when i run it in 1024x768 mode. is there something more subtle that i should be observing?
4) at some point if i do switch to the LCD (1980x1080) is the graphics simply stretched out or do you actually see more of the playing field.
thanks!
P.S. sorry for using my homegrown numbered list. i could not figure out how to use the editor's numbered list.

TFix 1.15 should be out soon, it will use NewDark 1.21 which should fix all multimonitor issues (I've set up a crazy dual gpu 3 monitor test system to try it out, and everything works great so far). if you cannot wait, extract contrib.zip and thief2.exe (rename to thief.exe) to your TG/T1 folder (after patching up with TFix 1.14) from the NewDark package available here: (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140086&p=2173948&viewfull=1#post2173948). and (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733) it's out.
safemode is an emergency thing, and should be only used when everything else completely fails, as it is slower than the regular mode, does not support all the features, has limited resolution etc.
//ah what the heck, lemme just compile this and assume the microsoft stance - why test your product, if the users can do it for you :ebil:

voodoo47,
installed TFix 1.15 and it works as far as allowing me to select which display adapter to use. i was able to select my Radeon adapter driving the CRT at 1280 x 1024 x 32. i was also able to switch to the LCD at 1920 x 1080 x 32 with the onboard Intel HD3000 chip.
question, when running in a widescreen mode is the graphics simply stretched out or is there more of the "playing field" present. i could not tell since by the time i went to the other monitor i couldn't recall how much was visible and i did not take a screen shot (it's too late!!).
thanks!

as far as I know, the widescreen mode is working properly, no stretching or cutting of the image. do note that you will probably have to reselect the correct resolution after each monitor switch - at least I had to.
