Can't find anything on this anywhere. Decided to re-install Thief 1 (Gold patch). Now, it requires the CD to be installed. I did the full install. Can't seem to find any "No CD" patch anywhere.

Please don't post asking for cracks, it's against forum policy. That said, it really is not hard to find no-CD cracks for Thief Gold if you know where to look.
If you don't have a legitimate copy of the game, we can't provide technical support. If you have a legitimate copy of the game, is there a problem with it reading the CD or do you just want the crack for convenience?

Wasn't aware of the policy. Sorry. Well, I must be dumber than mud, cause I looked all over the place for such a patch.
I have the original disks--I don't believe in pirating software, especially when it's so cheap.

If you don't mind purchasing and downloading it in digital form instead of as a box-and-CDs, it's actually pretty easy and costs about US$20. I found that link in 5 seconds via Google and there's at least 2 other such locations, one of which is from Eidos themselves. So lack of availability still isn't a good argument for making an exception to the no-cracks policy.

I already bought a copy on eBay. Thanks!
This will be the third copy of Thief I've bought. Hmmm...maybe I should buy a fourth. Muhaahaahaa...

Oh, no no no! I would never promote thief piracy. I guess what I meant is that it's very hard to buy the physical discs themselves for the usual price. I.e. just check out Amazon.com! they had the thief gold strategy guide on sale for $99.00

First, screw buying out-of-print stuff on Amazon. Second, a strategy guide for Thief? Phbbbt.
I bought Thief Gold for 5 bucks on Ebay, practically new. 5 bucks shipping from Canada. Total 10 smackeroos. It was a bare-bones edition. The original edition goes for ridiculous prices; usually 20 and up and up.
Maybe he has the discs, maybe not; some people legitimately want a no-CD crack so they don't have to keep popping in the CD. I thought you could just manipulate the config file or something.

install.cfg
comment out the line that refers to the cd path (it's the first line)

Yeah, I have the same disease. I have 3 copies of Thief 1, 4 copies of Thief Gold, and 3 copies of Thief II. Just can't stop spending on such awesomeness. Have to keep good spares around in case my kids ruin my current disc.
