The Eye doing nothing doesn't mean it couldn't do something, it may have simply not been terribly interested in helping Constantine, and so acted indifferently (it was happy to participate in the ritual but didn't mind being stolen by Garrett either).
At a guess, I'd say it likes to keep things interesting, whatever that may mean.

Ok Constantine was crazy and mad in a way, although he knew what he was doing, it seemed. What was his objective really? To me that wasn't clear.
Uh, scroll up. Brethren already answered this, definitively. And where are you getting your batshit notion that Constantine was crazy?

the Eye. What actually happened to the real Eye artifact after thief 1?
The Hammerites have their top men studying it.
Top... men.

If only this forum had some sort of QUOTE function that would make it clear which text was yours and which text was being quoted.

,the sadest part is we will never get a true thief 4 :( that is the most sad part of everything
Well what factions are there anymore left to go crazy? :cheeky: The Mages? The thieves? Or this time, the REAL Hammers?

You could still use the nobility just... handled differently to how T4 did it.

then the part of thief 1 where garrett switches the eye,and the eye say jack squat and did nothing while the arrogant woodsie lord was prattling off the chant
That is explained in the readables. Constantine used some sort of advanced alchemy derived from mountain flowers that could "put stones to sleep". The eye was never on the Trickster's side. He drugged the rock so it couldn't resist when he was using it for his project.

Seeing how we're on the subject of the Eye, I never understood why Garret was completely unphased by the fact that he lost an eye.

...I wouldn't call that "completely unphased by the fact that he lost an eye".

Actually there's an unused sound clip in the game resources where the Eye tries to warn the Trickster ("Master! Something is amiss!" or something like that). That made me believe that the Eye was created by the Trickster as a sort of a conduit to spread his influence outside the Maw (like creating the Haunts, etc.), but that was of course proven wrong in TDS.
Edit: Location of the sound file: RES/snd/EYE/English/EYE09
Of course that can't be considered canon.
