Hmm.. I seem to be in the minority in liking Karras's voice. "Now see, friends, how I have accomplished two tasks with but one effort." Love it.

I adore it too, Stephen Russell delivered a fantastic performance, the twist of a maniacal villain with the voice of an awkward misfit works together to create a really colorful character. I can imagine scenarios where he's been picked on for the way he sounds, and it being one of the things he holds a grudge against humanity for. A little bit like what you'd expect to happen when the easily upset nerdy kid gets all the power in the world to exact his revenge on all the bullies.
I love him and his voice! Great character.
Although, I do prefer Thief 1 more, that's just oozing with personal preference. I love the crypt/dungeon diving missions, the atmosphere, the lack of familiarity with the world you'd expect to be nothing more than a generic fantasy romp. Thief 2 also has a brilliant setting, but I just like the occult much, much more than the techno nightmare of Thief 2.

I just checked the english video files with Karras... I don't like him... A picture of a big frog appears before my mind.
But I like the Karras in the german version. Well suited voice in my opinion. No wonder why you guys don't like robots if they all sound like Karras.... my bad. In exchange you have nice accents and a better Garrett.
T1 is more mystical, T2 more steampunky. The story elements of TDP are more interesting. In TMA there are a bit more connections between the missions.
Even if TDP had more influence on my life than any other game Thief 2 wins by a mere inch because there are no freaky scary zombies..I hate them... TDP is nothing you should play as a second grader:joke:

Things I liked more in TDP:
-more guards with a heavy drinking problem
-how the agressive apparitions gave a demonic Twin Peaks touch to TDP, with their crazy backward mumbling stuff. I miss them...
-The guards were way tougher and more difficult, they made you actually worry enough to stay in the shadows and ghost or blackjack them. In TMA you could almost easily take out a few guards if things got messed up without fearing for your live like you did the first time you entered Bafford's mansion!
-the level design was more varied and slightly better, more sinister than in TMA imo: Cragsleft, Down in the Boneheard, The Sword and especially The Haunted Cathedral There and Back Again
-If I'd ever were to join a cult, it'd be the Hammerites and not the Mechanists
Things I liked in TMA:
-the scouting orbs! c'mon taffers, where' the love for scouting orbs?
-Ambush! ... that level was amazing
-the vastly improved textures
bottomline is both games are fantastic, I'd choose TDP because it was groundbreaking at the time and a totally new experience

As of now - the textures for OMs.
