Installed the widescreen mod in T2 and clicked it on. Set my resolution for 1920x1280 but the patch told me
' ERROR:COPY thief2.exe~thief2.exe~FAILED: cannot open target Stopped installation because of error" Tried again with 1680x1050 and same thing. Anyone else have this problem?:confused:

I have been getting the same error recently. (Oh, and I found my other CD for those who were wondering :laff: ) I am running RC Window 7 (which is very similar to Vista with permissions, etc) on a macbook pro via bootcamp. I have found my Thief.exe file is not able to be "edited by user". Go into properties, then security and edit it so any user can edit the thief.exe. On a side note you need to have the prepatched version that works with ddfix.
I'll let you know for sure in a couple minutes if it works for me.

Well, I came across this thread looking for a solution to run the widescreen patch for Thief Gold in Windows 7, and I just couldn't get it working.
I tried opening thief.exe for editing by users and that didn't work, and if I tried to run the patch as administrator it would close instantly.
Anyway, I figured out how to do it. Instead of running the patch itself as administrator, run an instance of the command prompt as administrator, and navigate to the patch. Then, you'll be able to run it.

Hi all!
I recently bought a 16:10 LG monitor and installed wide screen mod. The Darkwidescreen.bat reported a few errors but I think it patched Thief 2, so I play it on 1680 x 1050 now. Here is a screenshot - my question is:
Is this the correct ratio/view for wide screen thieving?
