I can understand multiple threads on this topic in different forums, but please keep the discussion consolidated to one thread in each forum.

All the same, I am going to put a warning in the readme about areas where the widesceen patch may crash the game.
Partially because I hope some people will go "there's a widescreen patch?!" find it, and install it. \o/

Which areas are those and why? I did minimal testing but it seemed to work perfectly.

Areas which can get up to 800 polys normally can go over 1000 with the widescreen patch. The game crashes at a little over 1000.

I got
DarkWidescreen-v5.zip (right before the forum went dark), so what's been changed for
DarkWidescreen-v5r2.zip?
It might now work with the version of Thief1 that Fallout_002 has. That's all, no new features.

I really hope this and DDfix get merged and perfected so we could have one handy tool available for playing the Dark Engine games on modern machines. It's folks like these that have made sure these classics will be playable well into the future. Thank you!

Maybe not, poroshin. They solve two very different issues, and are needed by two very different situations. With my system, for example, an older ATI card with a widescreen monitor, DDfix does nothing for me (actually the game looks better without), but the widescreen patch is now a must have. Combining them would be good for some people, as long as they continue to exist as separate patches.

FYI -
Ran the new release of version 5 of the Widescreen mod on an original copy of Thief DP 1.33. Unlike the previous release, this one did, in fact, patch with a resolution of 1440x900. However, I was ultimately not presented with that resolution option in the video section of the in-game settings menu.
