Maybe not, poroshin. They solve two very different issues, and are needed by two very different situations. With my system, for example, an older ATI card with a widescreen monitor, DDfix does nothing for me (actually the game looks better without), but the widescreen patch is now a must have. Combining them would be good for some people, as long as they continue to exist as separate patches.
Well the way I see it, everything would of course be optional. Like texture loading with DDfix now, which I make no use of. It would just be better to have one all-powerful tool. Perhaps the two geniuses could get together and try to come up with a solution to force menus and maps to 4:3 when in widescreen... please? Otherwise, I think, we've arrived to perfection for running Thief et al on modern computers.

Digi why dont you make both threads "stickies"
More stickies means more clutter. I wouldn't recommend it. What's really needed, IMNSHO, is some sweet linkage to your excellent thread from the FAQ(s), biker.

Around now would be an excellent time to give the Thief technical FAQ a thorough reboot.

Sweet linkage.... my excellent thread....:cheeky: classic, thanks for that.
And yes as Zylon has also indicated, the FAQ needs to be updated. I have been asking for the info from my thread entered into the FAQ but the admins are a bit slow to do things.....

DDfix does nothing for me
The quick, seamless transition from 3D view to readables, map & menu screens and back again does nothing for you?
I must be an oddball because that feature of ddfix by itself greatly improves my Thief experience, yet I rarely see people discuss it.

You know, you're right... you'd think that it would be enough, but for some reason when I switch between my versions of Thief, one of which has ddfix installed (the one I use the most) I never really seem to pay any attention to that. It is taken for granted.
There's just something about the way that ddfix renders shadows (on my video card anyway) that's ugly compared to just plain old T2, which my vid card displays just fine.

I noticed a new issue with the widescreen patch.
Some inventory items - only custom ones in my FM mind you - are getting cut off at the top and bottom of the 'inventory window' because the patch is over-scaling them (apparently). They are larger than typical inventory items, so I don't expect this to happen in the OMs. Any chance this can be dealt with?

You should have
- posted comparison screenshots
- named an example mission/item that exposes this behavior
Also, you should play the mission in dromed without the widescreen mod but with set_3d_zoom 0.75 or set_3d_zoom 1.2 and report if the problem reoccurs/post screenshots.
