Sorry for the doublepost... but i've had enough posting in the old 1 + i hope to increase odds myself to be helped by refreshing this thread...
If this helps anyhow, my system is old and weak (itspecially my antique grapihcs card)
Compuer: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz 1.99Ghz, 1.25GB of RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 64MB

Yeah, well clearly on your first screenshot image, it said SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED. So that's why I said did you actually try thief to see if it made it widescreen.:erg:
You still don't get it. I'm saying that it DID patch your copy. The reason it said NOT FOUND in there is because you don't have that version. In your picture, (again) it says patched thief2.exe right above the one that says not found, skipping... You replaced thief2.exe with another version right? Go back to the old one.
And to answer your question, yes you can buy the original game disc by online retailers such as amazon.com for example. (And I think you should, considering you openly admitted that you pirated the game. :( )
Also, the only reason why i said it might not work is because pirated copies of programs could have modified executables.
Holy crap that card is old!:o
Thor on 7/8/2008 at 00:46
what card...? btw it didn't work really. It showed clearly in game, that it did not work. Besides i could see the diffrence myself... and i wtf with the thief2.exe? If i would leave the old one, it wouldn't even patch. But Thief I is more pressing for me now, besides they both share the same problem. I hope this will work out damnit...and if i would have some credit card or something to buy in internet with...nice it would be... But i guess my parent's wouldn't go for it (i'm just 15) and i'm either too young or too unqualified for that.
Even if i don't get it, then i shall stay wide-screen-less? :erg:

Calm down. I'm sure someone will eventually post here... and i meant your graphics card.. that's like a series 2 card or something.
Thor on 7/8/2008 at 01:31
Ah yes... actually i'm not so worried about the widescreen anymore. It's the loyality for my favourite game ever... i want a new original Thief I/II, not the torrent stuff... meh.
Well if anyone comes with the widescreen problem answer, i'd be glad to hear it whatever it says.

[edit] As I see it Thor02 is using a pirated copy of Thief2 because his original disc is faulty..?
Thor02,
1. Install thief from your original disc, then all the required patches and then install the widescreen patch.
2. If the original disc is faulty then buy another copy of the game.
I would also suggest if you are able that you upgrade your video card, the GeForce2 MX is a very old, slow card.

ps. The moderators get a bit trigger happy when the work "pirated" is mentioned on this forum btw.

Ah yes, i somehow get to use that word on nearly every post... well, i cannot buy it at my age, so buying is out of the question :erg: So i'll just try to install TGold from my disc and T2 disc... i hope i'll find it...
Oh and as many years as i wished a new videocard (4-5 now), i won't get it from my parents, so for the next 4-5 years i am 99% chance to be stuck with this old piece of sh*t...
Wish me luck!

Hi Thor
ok, so you have the original disc's..which is good. As your hardware is of the same age as Thief itself, you wont need to use DDfix.
What is the make and model of your monitor..? As I see you wanted to use the wide-screen patch, but due to your hardware limitations this may not be recommended at this time...
I sent Sterlino a free video card about a year ago, which I think is better than the one you currently have - if you ask him nicely he may be able to send it to you. He is in Italy which is a bit closer to you than I am.

wow that's generous of you. Anyway my monitor is acer and the model i think is... AL1916W with 1440x900 resolution (i have played, for example, WoW, at this resolution, it just lags, but Thief shouldn't)
Anyhow i'm assuming then, that the fault is in my card, which i couldn't get myself, but Italia... that's still pretty far from me lol o.O
But thanks for your concern, really.

Ok, the Geforce2mx will only manage about 1024*768 with no AA, it wont be capable of running Thief at 1440*900 with out being laggy.
...Italy is closer to you then england is :cheeky: anyway I have an old radeon X600 you can have, which should be a bit faster than your Geforce2mx - drop me a PM :thumb:
