Hi,
I have looked in the FAQ and searched the forum for suggestions but with no luck so I decided to start this thread.
As I have Windows 2000 its hard to find similar problem.
I have just reinstalled Thief 2 on the computer in hope to cure some problems
on my old installation. See here (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105813) http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105813
Anyway I have installed Thief 2 and patched it to 1.18.
When I start Thief 2 screen goes black as it is starting and the just dies without any messages.
Any ideas?
Here are my specs (it s HP laptop).
Windows 2000 SP4
Intel Pentium M 1400MHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 32 Mb

by "start thief 2" do you mean when you first click on the .exe, or when you start a new game?

Sorry,
the crash comes just after I have double clicked on Thief 2 shortcut or ".exe".
I don't get to the main menu.

When the game starts it plays a couple of videos. I suggest you give the FAQ solutions for fixing videos. :)

I think you may be right, because I just realised that I can't watch videos
in the mediaplayer anymore. It crashes with some problem in the "LGVID.AX"-file.
I can see in the FAQ that file is involved.
Have the new thief installation messed up my LGVID.AX?

no, that thing just kind of breaks on its own after a while.
if you'd read the FAQ, you'd know to try this:
start -> run
type in:
Quote:
regsvr32 ""c:\(your thief directory)\LGVID.AX"
that should fix it.
if that doesn't work, try this: (

Thanks, but it still does not work.
I also looked at the MS-link you supplied but it seems to be for Win XP and
not Win 2k which I have.
I have the following Video codec drivers:
---
ffdshow Video Codec
iccvid.dll
Indeo video 5.10
ir32_32.dll
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec
Microsoft Windows Media Video 9 VCM
msh261.drv
msh263.drv
msrle32.dll
msvidc32.dll
msyuv.dll
vp31vfw.dll
XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec
