Thief 2 Desaturate Mod
Inline Image:
http://i47.tinypic.com/atrq5y.jpgThis mod adjust Thief 2 to have very muted colours, though not quite greyscale.
(All colour saturation is reduced to 25%, including coloured lighting)
This package also contains fixes for bugs in some of the original missions (Shipping... and Receiving conversation fix, Life of the Party fog fix, and Masks conversation fixes.)
There is also a desaturated version of the Thief EP to go with it.
I had desaturated the video clips as well, but I don't think they're worth uploading, because a) They're 200mb, b) Reencoding them reduced their quality, c) most of them (the briefings) have very little colour in them anyway, and d) removing the colour from the non-briefing cutscenes ruins them somewhat (in my opinion).
InstallationInstalling this mod in a separate installation of Thief 2 is recommended.
To install, simply extract the archive into the Thief 2 folder.
If you wish to use the EP with this mod, extract the desaturated version to your Thief 2 folder and run InstallEP.cmd
WarningThis package has not been fully tested. I made it a few years ago as a request, but never released it publicly. I just decided to throw the old files into an archive, update the EP files, and upload.

I try to extract a file T2-Desaturate.7z in WinRar and I get a diagnostics message that says CRC failed in the encrypted files.

Great, the archive seems to have got corrupted during upload. I'll reupload it later today.

This looks great! I'm a bit hesitant to try it though, as I already have Thief installed twice on my computer (one for gaming and one for mapping). I'm a bit too lazy to install it again just to check it out.

You don't have to reinstall, just copy your Thief 2 folder minus the \res or \movies folders, and adjust your darkinst.cfg file to point to your primary install folder. I have about 25 Thief install folders, but only one copy of the resources. My "starter" folder (the one I copy to create new ones) is only 26MB (not counting the widescreen mod's backup files).

What's your definition of fully tested? :o I played the game through several times with both mods installed?
