I think there's a big difference between what an individual player might do when they play a mission privately, compared to a 3rd party showcasing the same level the to public and completely misrepresenting it.
I'm a bit torn on this entire thread, as it appears greenhawk put a ton of work into their project. At the same time, it doesn't sit well with me that authors, who also put a ton of work into creating their levels, may be having their creations distorted or falsely displayed.

Like Brethren, I am also torn. I definitely recognize the immense work put into this list, and what a potentially huge benefit it could be to the community. But to make a decision to use such a drastic mod to all the missions is very strange indeed. This mod has a very different look from anything stock derived and sometimes changes the appearance entirely. The note about the HDMOD helps, but knowing that the whole list features this mod makes it a lot less useful, at least for me personally. I would be interested in seeing snippets of the author's vision, not snippets of a modification of it.

As for me, casual player, HDMOD is a huge step up of visual improvement of the game. And I was sure there was nothing wrong to use it in the project.

Definitely, a preview that ignores the mission's readme is inherently less valuable than the one that does. A number of the showcased missions contain explicit notes in the readmes stating that they should be played vanilla. There is nothing wrong with using the HDMOD only if the mission is meant to be played with it.
There is nothing wrong playing ANY mission with the HDMOD if one wants to do so. It’s ridiculous to tell someone what they can or can’t do. You don’t like it don’t use it. But if someone does they have every right to use it.

No one is telling anyone whether they can play with it or not on their own time, don't miss the point of what we're saying here. However, when you are trying to show off missions via a channel like this, you should do it as close to what the author intended. It's just being respectful to their vision and months(even years) of work they spent carefully creating the mission with their specific textures, alignments, objects and everything you can imagine in mind.

I was surprised when I saw in the preview of Time is Gold, that the bushes (which, I believe, had HDMod's replacement for DetBush1Summer's model) literally clash through the walls! And that's something you wouldn't meet if playing vanilla. If I knew there'd be a HDMod that replaces models, making them significantly different I'd probably... wouldn't care? Because most of the times I build with vanilla objects in mind, I don't want to think of every potential graphical glitch due to mod enhancing.
I have to agree with Psych0sis. The FMs should, be better, to be shown AS they were supposed to be played by the author of that FM himself.
Of course anyone to their own liking may launch it with a mod if they want "a better picture", but they should be acknowledged that it may cause conflicts with the vision of FM which it was built upon...

Green hawk:
First of all, thank you for your hard work. I can’t imagine how many hours you clocked finishing this huge project.
Although I do understand both sides of the issue, I watched the videos for a few of my missions and thought they were fine. I am not all that fussy about whether the presentation was exactly as I originally intended. This is a nice opportunity to take a quick look at missions to determine which ones you would like to play.
One question for the community. Is there an official list of all fan missions that is considered the source of truth? I remember Ricebug used to track all missions. Since I play all missions in chronological order, I would love a complete list that includes every mission.
