Thanks Nightwalker. Sorry to run you around between here and the newsgroup - it's hard to know where one will get the best responses.

That's okay. Now it will be here if anyone else is searching for an answer to the same problem. I think I'll edit the incorrect post in case they don't read far enough to realize it was wrong. :)

Even after all this time this is still one of the best FM's ever. The water swimming part is still my favourite.

I just finished it on hard. The first time I've ever played a game on hard (seriously).
I failed the no killing objective because I ended up killing the Lord. Previous attempts to gas or blackjack masked individuals failed and I could not get out of his study without him seeing me. So he had to go.
How am I suppose to get out of there?

Playing this unbelievably fantastic FM on normal (easy) first and have all the objectives but one. I cannot find the 3rd painting, Silhouette of the Trickster.
From the diary in the Lord's room I know it to be in the vicinity of the captain of the guards bedroom. There is one large painting above this room and that's not it.
Am I at the right location?
Nightwalker on 31/10/2003 at 14:20
You're very close.
If you go out of the Captain's room, turn left, then right at the end, there's a door on the left a little farther on. That opens into an ornate hallway. The painting is hanging on the right-hand wall, quite high up. The wall takes rope arrows. :)
AHH! I didn't see that little bugger before. Thank you...5 hrs 9 min on Easy. Geesh I'm a sorry taffer :eww: Now to try it on hard....

I saw some people post the location of the Trickster painting, and I think I read all the posts on this topic, but I need another painting. Where is the Lady of the Wood? I got so tired of frobbing artwork, I finally quit doing every painting, so that whenever I saw it, I didn't know that was the one I needed. So now I have done everything else except get that one damn picture. I spent a lot more time going around the rooms again, and I STILL can't find it!! One amusing thing, though, I sure like throwing open doors as I'm backtracking and finding guards going "HUH!" (As I realize I apparently DIDN'T visit that room before, after all!!!) So if someone can tell me where to find that painting, it would be appreciated!
I walked outside for a bit while I was looking for the painting, and I went toward the exit. I got an "Objective Completed" message. I hadn't done anything, so I went and looked to see what it was. It was for not setting off any alarms. I couldn't leave for good (no painting) so I don't think that objective was supposed to click off as completed. I went back in and turned an alarm on to see what would happen, and then it changed to the circle with the slash through it, so it still does react properly. Small thing, I know, just thought I would say that. Great mission, lots of fun. Quite well done (too hard to remember where you have been!).

What difficulty setting are you playing on? The paintings are in different locations on each one.
DaffyTaffer on 7/11/2003 at 01:13
In the couple of days leading up to my post (and my increasing frustration as I made the cursory searches, hoping it would turn up...) I ran over the things I would need to post in my mind. The difficulty level was certainly one of the things I intended to post!!! Damn, this game gets to me... Well, anyway, I am playing on hard. I know how things change on different levels, but I will truly be surprised if you tell me that the location of the paintings changes on different difficulty levels. No, on second thought, don't tell me. I am too fragile.
