Thief 2 FM - The Art of Thievery (Dec. 8, 2001) - by Nightwalker

I had seen him trigger when I entered the area a few times, trying different ways to edge through (I quicksave a lot :-p). He never left his room 'till I was sorta close to the door. I entered the room, looked around, checked out the guy standing there, and again, when I looked at him, I did not see anything on his belt.
I have seen arrows on archers backs (pickables) that have been a few inches out and to the side of the quiver, in mid-air. I have seen keys that were rendered inside the toons that had them, with only a few pixels of color showing. Guess I had two bad renders, with the same problem on this mission. :p
I will go check it out again.
Thank!

Thanks for the tips! I finally finished it on 'expert'.
I ended up with 6205 loot, but I did not see a max, so I don't know how I did on finding it all.
I was getting frustrated with all the tile flooring, and about half way through the mission, I ended up going into one of the bedrooms and being so annoyed with aggroing the noble in it, that I didn't take time to douse a wall lamp in the room, and just KO'd him. He was following me around the room as fast as I could back up, grrrr... I forgot it was an objective, and had saved already, so I didn't get the 'No KO' objective, *smacks self*.
I picked 21 pockets, out of 25 needed. I did not take the time to pick clean the guards outside of the mansion, when I was headed back to Burrick Street, so with the two archers, I know it would have totaled 23. Dunno if any guards have pickables on them. I was just ready to finish! :p
People that make missions should all get together and put a dozen levels together, package it, and sell it to a company after it is totally finished. The Art of Thievery is commercial quality, the only thing that was sort of out of place was the vault, but it was still very well done. Just my 2 cents!
Going to go :bored:. TTFN! *Tigger laugh*

Can anyone tell me how to figure out the code to get the jewelled sword while playing on expert ghost level?
I have everything else and only need the sword and can leave down the street.
This is by far the biggest level I have ever played.
There is only one other that comes to mind that is this big and I can't recall the name of it but it implemented zombies without heads that sounded like burricks and all sorts of other elemental spirits and spooks.
I'm playing with the ultimate difficulty patch applied so I hope people won't think that I'm lazy buy using the item cheater. Using gas arrows on everyone. Wouldn't get through this level on expert without it having the ultimate difficulty patch applied.

In the lord's study,
it looks to me like there are 3 crystals in the chandelier. How the heck do you get up there?
I tried to find a mention of this somewhere in this section, but couldn't see anything.
This is one of the fan missions that, to me, are as good as or better than any of the 3 original Thief games. Played this several years ago and had forgotten all about it. Just like playing again for the first time. Never ceased to be amazed at the talents of these fm creators!!!!

I've always loved this mission and I've played it a number of times. I've located all the loot and none of it was in that chandelier. As far as I know, there's no way up there but then again, you never can tell! :D

Hmmmm. Interesting. When you look at that chandelier from several different angles the chandelier disappears and all you can see are 3 separate diamond looking tubes. Thanks, Nw. I was really frustrated trying to reach that dang light. :)

Holy crap what a mission. Im 3 hours in and still I have completed 0 objectives. I found the scroll in the guard capitans room, and the key he had, but insted of paying much attention to it I felt like exploring more. I went all the way to the lords study and explored there, now I see what im doing and I prepare for the long trek back through the mission :D
Im playing on expert, and so far 0 blackjacks. This mission ROCKS!:thumb:

It's nice to see someone posting about this mission as I LOVE it. It's especially well set up for ghosting, if you like to play that way. Very challenging but totally possible to do. :thumb:

Yes, this was a marathon mission, and a really good one at that.
The game clock ticked over 10 hours before I had completed this mission. I missed out on 50 gold, but avoided blackjacking completely and scored ALL pickpockets.
