Thief 2 fog. - by Necrovox

Ok, I'm retarded maybe? But I can't get the freaking fog to work. I'm using a radeon 9600 pro, and I've installed the CCC, the rage tweaker... but hey guess what? I have no direct 3d tab to mess with the fog. Is it freakin hidden or something or what?
I put it on advanced view as well, so don't ask about that. I even tried downloading that rad program, but I have no access to fog options -anywhere-
Any help would be appreciated

If I recall correctly....fog and radeon don't get along. With nvidia it's stars that don't render. (I've always run nvidia and I've never seen stars with the T2 skyhack but fog/rain/snow is no problem.)
If I'm wrong Zylon Bane will correct me I'm sure.:p

Rage3DTweak was working for me until a recent problem forced a reinstall of XP SP2 and the Catalyst drivers. After that the fog bit of the tweak was absent. (9800 Pro)
I have just downloaded ATI Tray Tools from (
http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/) this site. It works very well, and I can meet her in the foggy foggy dew again.

The above should be added to the fog section of the FAQ. It seems to occur fairly often.

Ok, I figured it out. I was downloading the WRONG RAGE3D TWEAK PROGRAM! I was downloading the program that integrates itself into the catalyst control center and NOT the seperate program towards the bottom of the page. My problem should be fixed, now I have the fog options and stuff.
Thanks a lot guys :)

I now replay CL and fog looks good on my R9800Pro after I decreased brightness (the infamous 'wall of fog' isn't so noticeable). And in another FM - Rodamill, it looks very good, I guess that's because fog there isn't thick, and the 'wall of fog' isn't noticeable at all.
BTW, Radeons don't have problems with fog in modern games, I only witnessed the problem with it in T2 so far, it's so called 'table fox' AFAIK, that isn't used nowadays.

Yes, the Radeon fog ranges from right ugly to pretty good, depending on level design. For a good demonstation of "ugly"- try the OM's or FM-Dwelling Insanity. For a good demonstration of "pretty good" try HazelShade Cemetary, or Keeper of the Prophecies. (I'll have yet to try Rodamill, but I hear its quite good!)

OUch a Rage!
Yeah it is so true i have done the same and tried to get fog to work with my ATI. It true no ( good )fog just stars.
So just run around looking up and don't feel bad just put a sheet of wax paper over the monitor screen :thumb: and instant fog for everyone.
