Maybe we could set up a memorial page for dead Thief discs.:(
Sorry for your loss, witherflower.

My condolences. I personally have burned copies of T1 and 2 that I use instead of the original CD. If they ever explode (it's never happened to me luckily), it's not that big a deal, I'll just make new ones.
Lucky for you, you can buy T2 for cheap at the main online stores. Buy it, burn a copy to use, keeping your original stored away safely, and have fun! :thumb:

My thief 2 game disc exploded inside my drive 10 minutes ago. I think a moment's silence would be in order...
... Me and and the mrs. were planning to play some thief this weekend, and I think I recall reading about a patch or something that eliminated the need for a cd to be present in the drive while taffing. Is this true, and where can I locate that patch?
Thank you:)
Dammit!! Pal, I'm very worried about! :(
Never use original disk to install/play! Use copies from it! The original disks had to be kept only for license purpose, but always use copies, so if they get broken, you can always do another one. So, I light a candle for your poor, gone disc

I've been hoarding copies and buy one when I see it.
Thief Gold is the only one I've only got one of.

Thank you all for your warm heartfelt thoughts. It's much appreciated. And the worst part is that I noticed the crack before putting it in the drive. I just thought it would all work out. It installed fine, but when it span up to play it just couldn't take the heat. I'm a murderer, I might as well have pulled the trigger.
It's a brand new drive in a brand new machine as well. The drive's busted- but all the cd dust inside makes it a wonderful percussion instrument.

Old disc polymer and high RPMs don't play well together. :nono:
