Trouble is, nothing exits of that map except a vague description.
...:sly:
...notes survive in old trunks and attics, but they are not easy to come by. It is said a nobleman and collector named "Daniel" has an extensive collection of these old... artifacts. He lives in a place called Thron Mansion; heavily guarded, the streets around patrolled day and night. But even so, how could it be a challenge for a professional like me? I have scrounged for information and found the back entrance may not be so efficiently protected after all... Only one way to find out, I guess...

If there should ever be a revival of the Thief 2 Gold project, I would be interested in joining the team and contributing to it.

"This mission is set in the frozen mountains north of the City and is slotted between Culture Break and Masks. In it, Garrett must journey to the castle of the Necromancers, a secretive and evil offshoot of the Hand Brotherhood. Garrett will confront new undead creatures and evil dark mages in an attempt to stop an ancient evil. Fog and snow will dominate the precarious mountain fortress as Garrett uncovers the sick experiments of these twisted old men. Thief: The Dark Project had the unforgetable Return to the Cathedral. Thief: Deadly Shadows had the incomparable Cradle. Waking the Dead is our chance to add a seriously chilling undead experience to Thief 2."

What surprises me is actually the fact that the modding community for Thief is alive and kicking and completely ignoring the fact that there are some parts of official missions as well as a design doc for Thief 2 Gold available. Logic dictates that Thief 2 Gold development should be the key project for the community, but the community just doesn't give a shit about it.
This is just unexplainable.

I know what you mean. These missions are a huge deal. Makes me think that even if the source code were released, nothing would happen with it.

Just to throw in an idea:
What about a general topic in the Editor's Guild and / or Fan Missions Forum where people that are interested could post what skills and knowledge they could contribute to this project, to gather a new development team?
I know of one german editor who is also interested in Thief 2 Gold, but a "2-men-show" is quite senseless for such a huge project...
So, who else? :)

I've remained interested in this project and would love to still contribute.
I was saddened greatly when its leadership crumbled.
I would have tried to take over leadership, but at that point in time, my Dromed skills weren't as good as they are now.
I guess what I'm trying to say is "I'm still in if anyone wants to assist in starting it up again."

To get things moving, I would suggest using some sort of "template" that sums up the personal skills and experiences, ordered by categories like "DromEd", "Animation", "Video Editing", "Sound Editing" etc.
This way, it would be easy to find out what "talents" are still missing or where additional help would be a big plus.

I looked at those missions in Dromed, ran around, searched for interesting brushwork to learn from etc. They are early builds at best, and don't have anything other abandoned FMs don't (and some actually have more). The only thing specifically going for them is their origins - but there, the design docs are more interesting and relevant. It is not like they are even half-complete, or have something really innovative that
needs salvaging. They might have had that, if they were completed. They weren't, end of the story. :p

Fine. But completing these missions and making community created Thef 2 Gold is not a real great deal (it's definitely not harder than to create a few good FMs from scratch) and would be a huge new offering for the fans. I'm sure lots of people would gladly play through Thief 2 again if it was supplied with a few additional, commercial quality missions at least partially made by LGS and then finished by the fans. I would be the first person to download and play it.
I'm confident that Thief 2 Gold project could possibly be the project of the same potential and appeal as Thief 2X and CoSaS. Why community ignores it is beyond me.
