I had problems with Thief 2 freezing in XP, but the RunFirst program worked for me.

I tried to disable dual core from alt ctrl supp on Thief.exe (i'm speaking of thief 1) (Tried CPU 0 only, and CP1 only, and with default, and realtime priority) (Afaik, Thief 1 only have one process running)
I tried to use the "Processor.bat" trick:
imagecfg -u thieffixed.exe
imagecfg -a 0x1 thieffixed.exe
pauseI tried both at once, with every compatibility mode, i have either black screen, or the windows standard error message (the one that ask if i want to send the report).
It is not about copy protection, since it is a true bought game, not a verbatim one :p
So i am quite lost.
Mine is quite legitimate as well, I think I have accrued at least two boxed copies of Thief 2 and three boxed copies of Dark Project (including Gold) over the years. I only meant that the .ICD process may be related to the game's built in disc/copy-protection, though I'm unsure of this.
Now that I'm home, I see the processes are called THIEF2.ICD and thief2.exe. Only after setting the affinity for each process can I play the game without an eventual crash/lock.

Hmm. Here's a potential issue: I don't see a THIEF2.ICD process on the Task Manager, just the thief2.exe process. Why is this?
Biker, thanks for the offer--I'll take you up on it if I can't figure out this problem here. :-)

I didn't tried on Thief 2 yet, still stuck on Thief 1, and i don't think there is a icd on thief 1 from what i've read.

Perhaps it's related to the specific version I'm using? I believe I installed from the recent EB small boxed version of T2. I don't think the game's version number is any different, but I can check later. I kind of doubt they would have changed the .exe in any way, but who knows.
