I agree Yandros. If nothing else, I hope that I could consult TOS'es and others gained know-how on how the multiplayer works. Patching FM's for multiplayer would require additional testing anyway, so I'd just help with the manual modifications part.
About the utility: I'm still focussing on 0.3 release of OPDE. After all the changes are done, this kind of utilities could be easily written using python. I spent some time thinking about it, and it would be quite possible to write diff/patch combo for example (that would compare two gamesys files, apply the differences to another file). Patching archetype tree should be quite possible as well then.
Anyway, a bow for your progress guys!

Getting the OMs working is my first priority. Compatability with FMs would be great, but that definitely comes second right now.

Sure, I'd be happy to share what I've learned. I don't think you'd want to model any new multiplayer code in OPDE too closely after the mess that's present in Thief and SS2, though. :p

Oh yeah, I wasn't suggesting that necessarily... just that the OPDE developers would benefit from seeing any fully functional MP system to study the ins and outs so they can try and replicate it functionally, but implement in a better/different way as best fits the OPDE architecture.

been a thief fan since thief1, played both thief1 and 2, after that i dreamt about thief mp and started with thieveryut which was one of the best things that happened to me >.< (didnt like thief3 btw) i dont understand why thief fans like you guys here didnt start playing thieveryut, its so damn good. anyway, if they pull of thief2 mp im so gonna play that aswell.. Night-blande is also on its way.

i think most of the maps in thief2 would be to big in mp (depending on how many players thats playing) so id say the maps would have to be minimized. maybe even new maps that will fit mp, even maps from thieveryut could be done :o got a bunch of very good thief-mp maps right there.

wait a minute...is this coop only? then i cant be bothered.
imo multiplayer is all about playing against other humans. playing thief2 coop would be just like singleplayer (only its multiplayer cause of your teammates) aslo no competition in playing the computer (exactly like you do in singleplayer) so if this isnt TvG (thieves vs. guards) count me out! >.<

It's too early to even begin thinking about that right now. There are a great deal of technical issues that need to be ironed out before even coop -- which will be simpler to do -- will work well.

If this thing makes it into general circulation, I'd be shocked if there isn't eventually a plethora of GvT FMs. Probably more than coop.

Mind my is totally boggled and flabbergasted right now with all the doings going with Thief. :wot:
