Many things can get in the way of a project to the point of it's discontinuation (or indefinite hiatus), like the unfortunate state of the GWLP. Apparently, one of our lead guys was in the process of moving, and during that time, the forum we used to use as a hub for work on the project went down, and hasn't come back up yet.
However, I, too, feel that this is unlikely, but is definitely not out of the realm of possibility. As they said in Forrest Gump: "Shit happens."

Sorry for the lack of updates, but as Zop said I've been a bit busy with a different project lately that's taken up most of the time I have to spend on this sort of thing. That's coming to a close however, and I should be able to devote more time to Thief. I have no intentions of just abandoning Thief multiplayer after nearly eight months of work, and I haven't forgotten it.

So I was thinking about this project, and checked back in to see how you were going - tres impressive!
Trying to think of missions that could be adapted easily to MP. If you put a time limit (Don't know HOW) on The First City Bank & Trust, then one player would have to go down into the basement (to crack the combination for the safe) while the other could make directly for the vault, to get in and nab the prise.
If you had a third player, they could run interference, and distract the guards or something....
Same thing might work for the final mission in TMA: hitting all the transponders at the same time....
Any other ideas on how to make "Heist" missions? Ones where you NEED another player to help you achieve goals?

Time limits are a great idea. No promises, but I'll see if I can squeeze in an option for that into the first beta.
I've mostly been working on the interface for the past few days, and the old console window is now gone and has been replaced with something much more usable and easily configurable. Here's a (work in progress) screenshot of the main window, with the host server dialog open below it:

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/2715/tmpinterfacejn3.th.jpgObviously, since Thief has no interface for multiplayer related things I've just attached a Windows dialog to the game's process that allows you to host and connect to servers for now. I'd like to get it all in game eventually, but that will be a ways down the road if it happens at all. For now, players will have to alt tab from the game (if they're running in full screen) to do these things, but shouldn't need to touch it once they're in a multiplayer game.
My current plan is to finish up with a few changes that need to be made in order for fan missions to work in multiplayer without modifying their gamesys, and then do a test run through most of the original missions with vort. If we don't encounter
too many bugs (or if I don't get any new ideas for fixing some of the ones I'm already aware of), I may go ahead and release the first beta.
