Obviously, since Thief has no interface for multiplayer related things I've just attached a Windows dialog to the game's process that allows you to host and connect to servers for now. I'd like to get it all in game eventually, but that will be a ways down the road if it happens at all. For now, players will have to alt tab from the game (if they're running in full screen) to do these things, but shouldn't need to touch it once they're in a multiplayer game.
Just a though, although it won't really help many people, but for the next release of GarrettLoader I added dual screen support (which shows FM maps and stats) and hooked in some windows Hotkeys for it. This means that while in game you can press Ctrl + G and Ctrl + S to change maps and resize them on the second screen while not affecting the game itself. You may want to look into doing similar, however it doesn't just work on dual screens, your console could have hotkeys assigned that would just popup a small window (overlaying thief) as you press the hotkeys.
I would also be able to extend the dual screen support in GL so that it can work with your console if need be.

Heh, I thought this thread was dead before I posted, then I saw 2008. Glad to see that it's still being worked on by the community, but I hope we at least see a beta of this soon and not be one of those projects that go on forever and never have any betas ;)

Don't worry, I think Tos is just taking his time and trying to iron out some bugs before releasing any sort of beta.:)

My current plan is to finish up with a few changes that need to be made in order for fan missions to work in multiplayer without modifying their gamesys, ...
I may go ahead and release the first beta.
Though who knows how much longer this will take.

Very cool :). Can you record more videos of your beta testing?

I'm actually not sure how I'd do that, but that's definitely worth considering.

I'm still not totally comfortable giving a date for this yet. We've started testing the original missions again, and all things considered it's been going fairly well. I'm having some trouble getting the changes we need made to the network avatars in the gamesys to be patched in dynamically as the mission is loaded however -- it's lead to unexpected problems when loading saved games that weren't happening when we were playing with an actual modified gamesys file. Without this working, I'd have to distribute an edited gamesys along with the multiplayer patch and a fan mission's gamesys would have to be modified before it would work in multiplayer. Clearly, it'd be best if I were able to fix this before releasing the beta.

Sure, we can try to get another. Anyone have a request for a particular mission?

Ah, I see... but yeah, I think the OMs are more important than FMs at this point in time.:)
Um, let's see... mission video ideas... Hmm... how about Shipping and Receiving? Or is that one off the table for any reason? Oh:idea: Here's a thought: Perhaps requests should be based on missions that you know are working well enough to showcase by video so that we don't waste time requesting missions that aren't ready for video.:)

This thread gives me involuntary orgasms every time I read it.
I think that map choices should be fairly large. Also, the time limit idea is good, but make sure it's optional because it would be great fun to have 3 people sitting in a room with bows ready and another go round up the guards to lure them to their deaths.
Good lord just thinking about this is making me foam at the mouth.
