My Setup:
DromEd
C:Qwerk>folders ...
Each fm I work on gets it's own folder with DromEd and a complete Thief installation inside it. I of course don't include things like the mission files (except miss8) or all the movies.
Gaming
C:Thief>Thief2
My gaming folder is always separate.
DromEd is never installed into this folder. If I want to see someone else's mission in DromEd, I give it it's own folder inside the Qwerk folder. Any folders not currently being used are moved to external HD storage.
If it is a path problem, I will try to sort that out. If t crashes again, I'll post logs here.
Thank you for help, especially with the tech side of things.

This is why you should be using FMSel. It installs each mission into its own folder permanently, until you delete it. And all missions run from the same game files.
I used to do what you are doing now: cloning the entire Thief program into numerous folders for each mission. Even though I've got drive space to burn, I would lose track of tiny cfg/ini files that were different or had changed over time. Not to mention having different New Dark versions floating all over the place. Trust me, brother. Save yourself some grief.
Not sure about RSoul's NewDarkLoader. He may have some suggestions.

She mentioned earlier in the thread that she's using FMSel when playing, the separate folders thing is just for missions she's editing with Dromed.
The weird thing is, she's getting into the game because she can see objectives. But she also mentioned she got the wrong loading screen, so it sounds like the FM data isn't loading properly.

I just checked and I got this problem too, but I fixed it by setting the compatibility mode to Windows 8 for Thief2.exe.

Brethren: Exactly!
The separate installations I'm talking about (really just copying a clean installation and updating to NewDark) are for my fan mission building ONLY. And my own authored missions will play in gaming mode through DromEd.
However, the objectives screen now no longer loads. Nothing does.
I have ONE folder for playing Thief The Metal Age. There is no DromEd app inside it.
My clean, non-NewDark Thief install works fine for the OMs. I just double-click on the exec icon. But as soon as I apply TafferPatcher, neither the OMs or the FMs will play.
FMsel points to the correct directory, and it unzips the fms into the FMs folder. But they won't play.
I have Win10, and now I'm wondering if it's a compatibility issue. Even with un-patched clean install the game starts in fits, and I see patches of the desktop through the window until I finally get the game screen and intro movies.

Oh, good grief - it was just that. I went into the properties of the updated Thief exec and selected to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 8. There is still a little flickering before the fan mission starts, but now it is working.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and for the solution.

Nightshifter: finding quality DromEd time is RARELY a problem ;)
But now I get to take a little break and check out how our Spear of Destiny plays. :cheeky:
Along with some other new fms I'm curious to see!

I'm running Windows 10 and never had a problem with T2. Could be an anti-virus issue, however.
I bought Bitdefender, based on the 5-star reviews. After installing, it wanted to take over the computer. Programs were quarantined, web pages were locked. Soon as I got rid of it, all the problems went away.

You say your antivirus caused all sorts of fatal problems on your computer, and then you turn around and tell redleaf that her issues could be due to her antivirus program (when you don't even know if she has one). What are you basing that on?

Thief 1 and 2 (with NewDark) run perfectly under Windows 10 (and Windows 8.1 too)
So the problem has nothing to do with the game or the OS.
There must be another reason for that that I don´t know.
