Ok just to let you know I am very computer illiterate!
I have downloaded Thief 2 metal age like 3 times now and one time I was actually able to start playing it. Now it just starts off playing the intro to it and I get a error and the game shuts down. It says that I need the indeo video player or something to play it? Anybody know how I can fix this problem? My favorite game and I can't even enjoy it...
Hope someone can explain it to me in detail step by step so that I understand.
Thanks,
BM :tsktsk:

Problem with people in this day and age is it's hard to find anybody willing to help another person unless $ is involved. Anybody care to elaborate a little maybe?

Hello there.!
Am I right in saying that Thief will install but just not play?
If so then read on...
Thief 2 uses Intel's Indeoâ video playback system for playing in game video. Our installer tries to detect if you have the latest version installed and prompts you to install it if you don't already have it installed on your system. If you have some, but not all of the files that this system needs on your system then our installer can be fooled into thinking that the complete system is installed and therefore will not install it. This will cause Thief 2 to exit to the desktop when it tries to play its opening movie. You can easily fix this problem by manually installing Indeoâ on your system. Just put CD #2 in your CD-ROM drive, browse the CD, double click on the “iv5play.exe” icon and follow the on screen directions.
This is a passage from the readmeuk file that is also on disc 2, I like you am not so hot with computers and it dose help when someone points you in the right direction, hope this helps. If you need more don't hesitate to ask because there are a lost of people here that are very good with computers and will share there knowledge.

I did what you instructed. And I am still having the same problems. But the demo plays but right after demo ends screen flashes a little window pops up and says "Thief 2 has encountered an error and needs to close" or something like that. And it shuts down.
