Find the THIEF folder and just delete the entire folder for T2. Not really that complicated.
ffox on 10/2/2007 at 09:19
You may have a bad installation. Delete your Thief2 folder. If you don't know where it is, Start > Search > For Files and Folders name Thief2.
Now read the thread at the top of this forum, title: Important: Thief Series FAQ (Technical / Purchasing / Etc.)
Reinstall, following the tips in that thread. Good luck! :)

Now read the thread at the top of this forum, title:
Important: Thief Series FAQ (Technical / Purchasing / Etc.) Well, I think we should add some new issues to that thread, many more new problems. Including this one...
Delete the folder then, install it. If you find there are still problems...
Just make sure you described the symptoms in detail, so we can help you find out what's wrong...

Have you tried pressing the 'backwards' key?

Computer would not let me delete it at first. Now that I finally deleted it, I clicked install when I put CD in, and it's not installing. God this is some bs. I hear my machine running like it's going to install it and now it's not doing anything. This is getting annoying I tell you what.

David, I tried that and guess what, i was running or walking backwards, unable to walk or run forward. So i have to re-load the mission. Also, sometimes, once i used the load button, i am in the mission, i started to spin in circles. Again i need to load from a previous save. Getting fed up with all this.
thank you

1: Is your computer a desktop or laptop?
2: What are the specifications for your computer (is it a off the shelf HP/Dell etc.) CPU, OS *XP or what* Video card, Sound system, amount of RAM and HDD size? If you don't know, get EVEREST (

3: Are you installing from a CD or a DVD?
4: Are you using the LFORCE command as instructed in the FAQ.
Technical Questions - Thief I, Gold and II
How do I install Thief on Windows 2000 or Windows XP?Go to Start, then Run, then type d:\setup.exe -lgntforce, where d:\ is your CDrom/DVDrom drive. (note: that's -lgntforce, lowercase "L". If you're unsure, copy and paste it from here.) This problem arises because Win2K and WinXP are based on the NT kernel, which had DirectX support which was flaky at best. Thief needs DirectX to run, so, when the installer sees the NT kernel, it assumes that the game isn't going to be able to run and quits the installation. The -lgntforce switch tells the installer to ignore the NT kernel and install anyway.
When I try to install Thief nothing happens!Start the installer and leave it! On some configurations of Windows XP it can take up to an hour for the installer to start.
When I try to install Thief 1 or 2 I get the following error message: AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
Check out the following Microsoft article:
Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based program
My ingame movies (briefings and cutscenes) aren't playing anymore, how do I fix it?You have to reinstall the indeo video codecs. You will find them on Thief: TDP's disc, and on disc 1 of Thief Gold. If you have Thief 2, you can find them on CD2 (the file is iv5play.exe). In the past you could also download them from this site for free, but unfortunately the codecs have since turned pay-for. This problem often arises because of conflicts with some other programs such as Realplayer or Windows Media Player, the video codecs become corrupted and no longer work. There is an incompatibility between the Indeo codecs and Windows XP. If you wish to view the ingame movies and have Windows XP you must install the codecs every time you play Thief.
