Thief 2X crashes - TTLG Forums

Hi there, I tried to play Thief 2X but after installing and trying to start the game it crashes. The screen flickers and hear sound for a second then "Thief 2X has stopped working" apears. Im using a fresh Thief 2 install from the Squareenix masterpieces edition and Windows 8.1. Also while installing it reported a "darkinst.cfg not being correctly created"
Anyone got a clue what to do?:confused:

A little more info would be good. Did you install using either the T2X method in the TFix thread OP (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733) here or the FMSel and DL-ready version from Ricebug found (http://www.bogadocious.com/thief/T2X.zip) here? Or something else?

It sounds like he just installed the vanila version of both Thief 2 and T2X. Are you using any patches or enhancements, User205?

No just the vanilla versions of both.

That's probably why - the vanilla version probably doesn't work well with Win8. Install Thief 2 with New Dark (using Tafferpatcher). Then download Ricebug's T2X FM (see link above). It will let you load T2X as if it was any other fan mission.
