if you dont get it within the first month of T2X's release your out of luck :( Unless you find someone to burn a CD for you.
But it will be available from all the usual FM sources. Sure, it'll take a while to DL and may need to be packaged into multiple zip files but it'll be there.

You can actually have AVI videos with the audio part encoded in mp3. Those videos are still "readable" by Thief with no problems. (I've experimented it myself)
So why not video content with 128kbits 16bit stereo mp3 audio ?
About the rest of the sound content (sound fx...etc) Darkloader already decompress all .mp3 sounds into WAv during the intallation of the FM.

We're using our own installer because DarkLoader takes a long walk off a short pier when it encounters something even as large as Calendra's Legacy; something as ginormous as T2X is going to cause even more problems. Plus, we have some Extra Fiddling we need to do during the install that DarkLoader can't.

That's very interesting about the installer. Sounds like you know what you're doing. I can forsee some possible confusion on the matter with public brainpower being what it is.
So, the CD version - you stick in the disc (or disc 1, depending if it takes two CDs), and you get a pop up to install, like a game from the store.
Download version - here's the question, will be download .zip file or .rar file or something? And then, we unzip it to a folder, then we click on setup.exe or whatever? Or is the download an executable? Can an executable be nice and compressed? What about dowloading chunks - will it be .rar chunks, then we run the first chunk to rejoin the large file, then unzip it, or then run it?
No matter what it ends up being, we're all (hosters, websites) going to have to be VERY clear with excrutiating detail for people, because I know very well how easily the most simple instructions get muddled up for so many people. I have a hard enough time getting people to send me enough international postage coupons for return postage!

The setup file will be a compressed self-extractor. Even though a lot of people around here are more then comfortable when working with things like zip, rar, 7z, whatever, there will always be those who have no idea. The self-extractor is a nice way to get around this. All one has to do is point it to their thief2 directory and away they go. In order to play T2X you will need to run the t2x.exe file. This will launch t2x without changing anything to your current set up. No files are overwritten. That way if you would like to play regular thief2, you would simply run the thief2.exe as normal.

but we'll still want to make it available in chunks, so hopefully that will not be too problematic for people

1st of all well impressed and cant wait, iv had some probs with my comp since like the day thief 3 was released so just recently is the 1st time ive been playing it properly so im happy bout this but ive missed the old style thief so this will be excellent
but also would like to put my 2cents in
-in regards to the ideas about eidios being interested in it its not a far
fetched idea
do you remember half life expanion "gunman chronicles" ? well that was a fan
made expanion/FM and they liked it so much they did it, but of course its a
diff company but it proves it does happen
-also with the idea of putting it on disk, why dont you write it to a dvd-r?
this means you dont have to sacrafice anything and you dont have to use
2cds.
alot of us have a dvd-rom, some bullied to have so they can play thief (grr)
but those that dont have a dvd rom they can have a 1cd or 2cd version

I finally have a reason to re-install Thief 2. The only reason I haven't is because of the lack of new FM's. Congrats and thanks for sticking with it for so long. Cheers...
