Yeah - all the voices and music are finished. Sorry! We've got 3 mission still in internal beta for minor bugs, and most of the briefings are in post-process right now. 3 of 4 cutscenes are also finished, and one of our project leads, Avalon, has finally come to terms with his homosexuality. Those are all the updates for now.
Hooray for Avalon! :D Sounds absolutely cool - definitely looking forward to T2X getting released. Cheers!

I thought the announcement was because T2X will be released soon? Not to hurry you (he he, do I see a lie here?) but when will it be finished?
fett on 10/2/2005 at 19:57
It's hard to say anything more specific than "soon." Here's the situation:
When you begin to beta test, the testers are people who have been looking at/reading everything for 3-4 years. They are VERY familiar with the plot, the puzzles, etc. In other words, we're not very objective about how clear the mission goals are, how difficult the puzzles are, or whether the plot is clear enough to follow. So we beta test to get it as close as possible - but it's imperative that some people who've never seen the game before play through it in case we've developed 'blind spots' over the years. We don't want to release something that makes sense to us, but is confusing to someone who has never played it. Typical procedure.
There are a variety of things we're trying to polish up for quality purposes: Mission to mission economy, spelling and grammar checks for all the docs, etc.
This doesn't even touch the 'art' side of things where a huge amount of briefing drawings are currently being touched up and post-processed before they can be combined with briefing music and dialouge. But they are coming along quickly.
The main problem with a project like this is (and has always been) that people are doing it in their free time - and most of us don't have much. So 'close to release' for us is probably a little further away than when ISA or Blizzard says it. Be assured that we're doing all we can to expedite things without reducing the quality of the game.
And keep in mind guys - this will be like having an all new Thief game when we're done - new EVERYTHING. We're hoping you'll like it just as much as the originals (I do), so we don't want to drop the ball this late in the process.
Thanks for your patience!

Now, when Ion Storm is closed, you guys and the COSAS and THI teams are extremely important for the community. Only your brilliant work keeps it alive.
