Hopefully cleaning out some old files and experimenting with some compression will get us there. The biggest culprits are of course sounds and movies, so we'll see how that goes.
Just remember that stereo point-source sounds get crushed down to mono by the engine, so those are a waste.
And 11khz is usually perfectly acceptable.
And letterboxing your videos is a great way to improve your bitrate bang-for-buck.

Don't worry if you have to put it on 2 CD's....I'm sure we'll forgive you. ;)

Hehe... so true. I tend to judge it whether it's been made in a "professional" way or not. T2X will most likely be deemed as such a professional project, by me at least.
Me too. That was my point why I compared it the "professionals".

Well, I REALLY REALLY hope that it will be possible to actually download the final product from the Net! 'Cos I have no opportunity to order CDs from the USA and get it to Russia, especailly the CDs that are not officially distributed.
Make it downloadable, please! And don't worry about the size, I'll easily handle gigabytes of your work! :)

We file hosters will likely be making people jump through a few hoops in order to download the thing, and certainly in chunks if anything, so if you any bad chunks (which can be tested) then you only redownload that one part, not the whole freakin thing! Those and other limitations in place will still make it possible to download but also save us from overloading!

Can not wait.

This is excellent news! From reading the description and playing some of the top-FMs, every indication I've seen suggests that T2X is going to equal, if not surpass Thief 3.
Do you guys have any screenshots to show off? You know, something to whet our collective appetite?

Fantastic news, and kudos to everyone who's contributed to this. Worthy of a special update to the thiefpetition site I think. :thumb:
