Thief 3 Bug... - by Garriath

I started playing Deadly Shadows about 5 months ago or so; I got about 3/4 of the way through, and decided I wanted to play the prequels before I finished the game. I just finished T:MA for the first time last night, and have returned to playing T:DS only to find that, during the intro and finish speeches, Garrett is no longer narrating. This isn't really game-breaking, but his voice is really one of the things that makes the series outstanding.
All the other sound in the game works fine; Garrett's comments throughout the missions are still there, as are all the other effects.
Has anyone heard of something familiar, or have any idea why this might happen?
Thanks!

Hmmm...
Did you have to change any sound-related settings to play the old Thief games? For instance, I always have to go into the Control Panel and turn audio acceleration down a couple of notches to get the old ones to work.
And not that it will help me at all, but what sound card do you have?

No, I had to change load of things to get Thief I and II working properly but none of these were sound-related and none had anything to do with any programs but the games.
For the record, my sound card is a Realtek HD Audio rear output. At least, that's what dxdiag tells me.
I appreciate the feedback, though.

Hm... can't go on unless he's narrating. Garrett's narrarrating and comments are the best things in all three games. Try backing up your saves but reinstalling the game.
