I downloaded try media's trial of Thief: Deadly Shadows, which was nearly 2 gigs, and when I try to install it, it says the installer is corrupt.
It can open the install exe with winrar, and can extract all but two files, and I used a "corrupt zip fixing" program to extract the remaining them
The problem is that when extracted, all the files end up in one directory, with no subdirectories, eg CONTENT, TEXTURES, SYSYEM etc
I don't want to download the thing again because it will talk ages, but if someone would give me a listing of they're install directory so i know what folders to create and which files go where, i'm sure the game will work.
just copy and paste the below cmd commands into a text file and rename it to a .bat file and double click on it.
cd c:\
dir "C:\Program Files\Eidos\Thief - Deadly Shadows" /b/s > uploadme.txt
The list of directories and files in the Thief - Deadly Shadows folder will be saved to the uploadme.txt on ur c: drive.
Would really appreciate if someone could do this for me.
Thanks.

You need you use winzip or same-such and use "extract with paths", if you tell me what the 2 files that were missing/corrupt and if they are small I should be able to help you out.
That £12.99 for the full game on that site is a rip off...
£9.99 in 'Game' or 'Gamestation' or 'Virgin' or 'WHSmiths' or etc etc
or ebay for £2.50-£5 - there are shed loads of them...

Another reason to stay away from downloadable game versions, is that they will not work with any fan made fixes or graphical changes (well, I guess .ini tweaks will work), and I'm pretty sure they won't work with the editor or FMs either. This is at least AFAIK the case with the Direct2Drive version.

The problem is that it's not a standard self extracting zip file. There are paths for an "extract with paths" to work.
I can extract all files from the archive, i use a zip repair program to get the 2 corrupt ones.
What happens is, when I start to install, about half way through it will give me the corrupt installer error and abort. So only half the files are extracted to the c:/program files/eidos/thief - deadly shadows. And only half of the directory sturcture is made. ie, there is one folder CONTENT with a few subfolders in it. But there is no SYSTEM folder or TEXTURES folder etc.
The information on the paths the files are to extracted to is stored somewhere in the .exe installation file. It's only but luck really that I was able to open it with winrar.
But if i someone would use the DIR command i'm pretty sure i'd get the thing working.

I do not believe Thief 3 has a System or Textures folder.

No they don't. I got Thief Gold from that version and I can't play fan missions, nor can I open CRF files, nor can I back it up to reinstall later if I want to get it off my HD. It was, basically, a waste of 20 bucks. THough I did get to play it. Don't buy the Trymedia version. Save your money and get the disc version when you can. You'll be happier with it in the long run.
