I do have a dual-core processor, but I'm running it under Windows 98 compatibility mode, which seems to work fine, until (only some of the time, it seems) I go to quicksave and everything becomes jittery. The only fix for it is to either cut to the main menu and re-load from that save game or alt-tabbing to desktop then alt-tabbing back into the game. It's not horrible, just obnoxious, especially when I'm playing these new fan-made missions and the tension's high and then BAM, jittery world for no reason.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Have you tried running the game under a single core? To do this Alt-Tab out of tha game when running (the menu screen is fine). Open the Task Manager, click the 'Processes' tab and right click both 'T3.exe' and 'T3main.exe', select 'Set Affinity' anc uncheck one of the CPUs listed.
