Hi everybody. I played threw thief 3 and it worked fine. Recently bought a new pc. Re-installed Thief 3 and i've been getting an unusuall bug. When im jumping around to get ontop of a crate or if i step over a body Garret will vary often get stuck in the jump position. His arm will be sticking stright out but the leggs will be locked in place. i cant jump or interact in that position. The only way i found to brake out of that position is to fall from a small hight...anybody elce have this problem?

presumably in third person view? does it do it in first person mode?

I hardly ever play in 3rd. to used to Thief 2 =P but seems to always do it in first person. At first i thought it was just the FM i was playing so i decided to try play the first lvl of the origenal game and the first crate i came to it did it. looks rather funney when i change to 3rd view...the amazeing floating Garret =P think i should just re-install?

I think that's fairly common. The easiest way to get out of it is to make to fire an arrow (draw the bow back) then cancel it.

There´s for sure something wrong with the walk/jump-animations. I´m encountering a similar, annoying problem. Quite often, Garrett seems to forget his (ugly) walk-animation and he slides on the ground, like on rails, and is no more able to jump. Walking down stairs sometimes fixes this problem, but when there are none, reloading is the only solution. What´s wrong there ? :weird:
Btw, found a new interview with Thief designer and former Ion Storm game director Randy Smith about his pre- and post-Thief life.(

This seems to have very little to do with FMs so I'm shifting it over to the General forum.

This bug happens usually, if you try to climb up when there is for example a bottle or candle blocking your way. Also sometimes, when walking the headpopping is gone.
These can be fixed by jumping around, using ladder or exiting the current level.

THE SOLUTION TO THE "GLIDE BUG" IS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Select an arrow. Water, moss, broadhead, rope, chicken, poisonous. Anything.
2. Hold down the fire button, and let the arrow draw all the way back. Don't let go; don't fire the arrow; just hold it, notched and drawn.
3. Press the "jump" key. Whatever it happens to be assigned to on your computer. It defaults to "space", so press the space-bar if that applies to you.
4. This will cancel the arrow, and stop the gliding. You can also press the tilde key to put away your weapon, and that will also cure the glide bug.

:D Hi ejsmith,
thanks a lot for your advice. :thumb:
This looks like an easy workaround to fix the problem. Will try it asap.
Well done, taffer :cheeky:
