I've got quite an elderly computer with an Asus A7M266 mobo. It supports 4x AGP cards. Is there any card I can get for this machine that will run Thief Deadly Shadows? I got the game for Christmas in 2004, and haven't been able to play it yet:erg:
Any advice will be appreciated.

Sure, there are plenty of AGP vid cards on the market that will do the job, but we can't really give you any advice until we know what your price range is as well as the other specs for your computer. I'm going to be out of town the next few days, but if you can post that I'm sure somebody else can lead you to what you need.
If price is a problem check out a ebay and see what deals you can find for AGP graphics cards. Most of the ones you would be looking at are going to be AGP 8X, but your mobo can still run those (not as well of course). If you want a new video card I would highly recommend (

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the reply.
Price isn't a major issue, although I don't want to spend megabucks, because I'll be buying a new games machine in the summer, and after that I won't be using this one for games at all.
I've got another game (Myst IV Revelation) that won't run on this machine (it requires Geforce 1 or Radeon 7000), and I was going to buy a new video card for that one, but then I thought I'd like to get one that will allow me to play Thief 3 as well, if poss. (This machine's only got a SiS 305 at present.)
Apart from the video card, the machine's spec. meets the requirements for Thief.

Any card that is a GeForce 4 or higher (not including those ultra crappy MX cards) will work. If you are upgrading soon, there is no point in getting a top of the line AGP card. With that in mind, anything in the GeForce FX series, such as FX5600 or FX5900 will work ok, or any of the Radeon 9xxx series (try to stay away from the low numbers in that series FX5200 for example). You should be able to pickup any of the above cards very cheap these days.

I run it on a GeForce Ti4200. An older but very excellent card. I have absolultely no frame rate problems. My PC is about five years old, a 1.3 Ghz.

Ah, thanks for the replies, folks. I'm going to go shopping now.
Presumably these GeForce 4 cards will also run my Myst game ok?

Back again.;) Do you think this sounds reasonable?
HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon 9250SE 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (R9250-TDW128-64bit) (GX-026-HT)
It costs £21 (which is about US$37).

No SE's. Especially if price is not an issue.

Someone else on another forum advised avoiding Radeon 9250s too, so I guess I've had a lucky escape.;)
I've ordered an FX5200 - I couldn't find an FX5600 at a sensible price, considering I'm only going to be using it for a few months - so with a bit of luck, I'll be playing Thief this time next week.:D
