Today, May 11th, 2012...is the 3rd anniversary of the announcement of THI4F.
It's been three strange and dubious years...all without a word from SE/EM*...

See, when I joked that there would be takedowns in Thi4f I never thought they'd actually...

I'm probably being overly optimistic, but 'takedown' could just the word that Bouliane is used to from his work with other games. It could be that EM wants someone to specialize in the death/KO motions.
On the other hand I do get that sinking feeling.

Yeah, after I posted I realized it might just be referring to death/KO motions.
Or, maybe it refers to ◄ ● ▼ X being the sequence for left strafe + backflip + throat slash.
