Hey everyone, I think this might be what SE/EM has in mind for THI4F...

Except, maybe Garrett will have a Garrote, so we'll see more of a struggle choking animation instead.
That would be the cat's meow.
After thinking about it, I think everything is going to be okay...

Thanks for that link.
Wow, there's a game I'll never play. Talk about zero immersion... :tsktsk: If that happened to Thief I think I'd just ignore the whole thing and pretend it was never released.

The problem I have with the game in Vorns clip is simple, and its the same gripe with every other clip of its kind. The physics. Yeah, you can shoot a grappling hook and fly up to the top, but where is the intense finely tuned and honed first person physics that the first two Thief titles enjoyed? Not sure what happened with *cough* Deadly, but I hope I can rest assured that the new people understand how *smooth* the overall physics were in Dark Project! The game was many things as it was being built completely from the ground up. Yes, it was ultimately shaped into a sneaker with a very dark theme, yet the brilliant physics engine remained. The hardcore original fans know that Thief is classic not only for the story and atmosphere it presented, but the replay value the simulator-like physics engine afforded. When you have time please enjoy this beautiful (

I think it's safe to bury the game. Even if it isn't vapourware, such an insanely long development time can mean only one thing: development hell, so the game will be weird at best, and complete garbage at worst.

jtr, when this next Thief game comes out, I will be nowhere near capable of playing it. For me, it will be waiting for those first videos to be put up on youtube. Dont feel bad for me though, my computer can still play any game from 2001 and earlier quite well. Since that is where all the real games are, Im good. lol
Heh. :p
You've had more years of enjoying more games from the best minds than I'll ever have in my lifetime--barring a revolution that I can participate in--so I can only be envious. There are some veterans here I'd love to hear tell their stories, but I'll settle for the archives in The TTLG Vault. It sucks so bad that the links have almost all been broken, including to usernames.

I have no problems with takedowns and I don't see the issue.
I've argued for choking and garroting before - each should have it's own benefits and disadvantages. But inherently there is nothing wrong with them.
Of course it would be better if we could turn takedowns/cinematic interruptions off...

'Takedowns'? OhGoodLord!!! Though I enjoyed DX:HR, I grew very weary of the takedown sequences very early in the game.
Sorry to disagree with those who are pro-takedown sequences, but I don't feel they have any place in Thief.
I'm going back to bed now. I feel a migraine coming on.

The issue is that having control taken away from you is not fun. It looks cooler, though.
