I bet 100 bucks that this game is definitely going to be released in the next-gen consoles,
Well
that certainly doesn't bode well, either. Look at the muckup they made of TDS while trying to make it a console and PC game. IIrc, TDS was developed for console first, then converted for the PC. And it lost a lot in that process.
But then again, afaic, every little tidbit of 'news' about T4 so far hasn't been very encouraging, period.

I'm surprised that comes as a surprise to you. Deus Ex: Human Revolution was released for PC, X-Box 360, and PS3 (and whatever you think of the game overall, they did a pretty good job of giving the PC version an appropriate interface).
Robert isn't suggesting "Thief 4 is coming to consoles" as a new idea. What he's suggesting is that, rather than coming to X-Box 360 and PS3, it will be coming to X-Box 720 and PS4 (or whatever they will be called--they haven't actually been announced yet).

If anything, bumping it to next-gen is a good thing for us, as the next gen consoles are going to be significantly more powerful than the current gen, (I've heard 7 GB of RAM on the next Xbox, compared to the 512 MB on the current one) which means higher resolution textures and better target framerates.

True, it's a good thing if you equate slicker visuals with a better Thief 4.
Tomi on 16/5/2012 at 18:07
I can't see how slicker visuals (and about a hundred other positive things that I can think of that come with more processing power) could be a bad thing.

Or the possibility of loading larger levels, or giving the AI more processing cycles, or...
As Tomi alluded to.

The level sizes in DXIW/TDS were due to terrible tech and not a limitation of the original xbox hardware. There are plenty of games for that system with massive maps.
Anyway, a.) Eidos Montreal have made one game, and it was fantastic and b.) they don't owe you any information on this game so go find something else to jerk off about.

'Tis a shame your standards are so low...:tsktsk:

...:laff:...What a silly-minded thought...:nono:
You fail to realize "owe" has nothing to do with it...Neither EM or potential customers "owe" each other anything, and that includes the community returning any respect when none is being given...and what little information has been given, has been worrisome. You see, EM has created their own problems due to their dubious behavior and poor public relations, and what you witness here is simply a reflection of that.

I'm not obligated to give them my money, and I'm not obligated to like what I've never liked all along. They wanted our opinion, but we don't know what they are doing with any of that info. They are going to do what they did with DX:HR's highlighting, by waiting too damned long to find out how fans feel about some (not all, mind) changes they will, and cannot help but, bring to the franchise. The damage to the forums will be complete.
Who are all these taffheads that think we're obligated to buy, play, like/love, and only praise T4, or shut up, sight unseen or game in hand?
Without feedback from EM regarding key design choices, compounded by the greater number of voices calling for a T4 that has more in common with GTAIV and ACII than the choices that shaped LGS's Thiefs, we don't have a proactive choice. Silence is a greater evil than steady complaint against modern gaming trends that are impenetrable walls to enjoying a new Thief game. I'd like to see a T4 that takes what TDP/Gold hinted at, and explodes it into a full realization, which TDS never scratched in more ways than not.

I agree with Dia. The Thief games for me, have always lent themselves better to mice/keyboard inputs. The turning acceleration you can achieve with a mouse and the ability to pull out equipment with a single keystroke is always superior to console controls in a first-person game.
I guess I could just hook up a mouse and keyboard to one of my consoles, but the fact that a game's interface is not designed with a keyboard in mind (i.e. crappy menu interfaces and inventory management) will detract from my experience.
