Do you
really think that they're not going to show the same level of care for the PC interface for Thief 4 that they did for DX:HR?

Citation needed.
The most bothersome thing about threads like these is that nobody
knows anything about what design choices are being made, so you're working yourselves up into frothing idiocy over chinese whispers.
And the idea that any of us here are the gatekeepers to LGS's legacy, and failure to consult us for every design choice equates to taking a giant shit on the Thief series is fucking laughable.

Who's saying that?...
The irony here, is that you're the one "working yourself up into a frothing idiocy" over your own misconception.

Yep. It's "laughable" because it's absurd and untrue. I cannot fathom the magic word combination that would make the lightbulb come on, here.

Every time you say something like "Without feedback from EM regarding key design choices" (which you've said some variation on a lot), the sub-text is 'They're not running their design choices by us for approval/they don't care what we think/the game is going to shit on LGS' legacy.' ESPECIALLY when you go on to say things like 'Silence is a greater evil than steady complaint against modern gaming trends that are impenetrable walls to enjoying a new Thief game.'
And I'm still waiting for a citation of people calling for Thief 4 to take design cues from GTA IV and AssCreed 2, jtr.

QFT
This is why, despite being excited and optimistic about Thief 4 (based on DXHR), I don't really post in here except to snark.

And as Fafhrd pointed out, its all speculation anyways! We dont know *anything* !!!!

I'm not as worried about this as the rest of you. I don't care if it has takedown animations and If you think about it for a few minutes I bet none of you do either. Bonking guards with the blackjack was not a memorable part of Thief 2; the effect would have been the same if Garret had strangled them with a wire or, put a Sainsbury's bag over their heads. or whacked them in the temple with a dinner spoon. Anyway, if you have to resort to knocking out guards you probably aren't playing well. The real question is whether it goes back to free-roaming environments full of loot and secrets, or, for some confusing reason returns to the Deadly Shadows format which everyone hated.
One of the best insurances the Thief franchise has against deterioration is that it is virtually unknown. It hasn't been seen since the late nineties when there were as many people playing PC games as there are playing Modern Warfare 3 right now. Look at E3 anticipation threads and try to find someone who cares about Thief 4. I can think of one reason for Eidos dedicating their coveted Montreal department to exhuming this franchise: that is, they liked the format and think it can still make money. And if Eidos fucks it up then all most people will hear about it is Yahtzee tearing its cock off.
The two main complaints about Thief 4 are that we don't know anything about it and that it will be shit. Anyone else see a contradiction?

incorrect. we don't know anything
official about it, except for general blathering like the "more than just stealth" interview, and some leaks, resumes, and concept art, etc. All together, the information and analysis of bits and fragments of data compiled together points to nothing but abysmal failure.
seriously, find something that has been made known about thi4f that makes you genuinely perk up and say "yayyy!!!!" it doesn't exist.

Again, though: Chinese whispers.
If I put 'concept artist for Homeworld 3' in my LinkedIn profile, it doesn't mean Homeworld 3 is still actively in the works, or coming out. It means at one point I was on a team kicking around ideas for Homeworld 3.
The guy put 'Thief 4: keyframe animation for takedowns' in his LinkedIn. That could mean he prototyped DX:HR style takedowns in an early build and they were later taken out, it could mean that they're doing Mirror's Edge style first person disarm/knockouts, or it could mean that, yes, they're doing full on takedowns and they'll be in the game.
Honestly, I think he's trolling. It's too specific, and for a game that nobody is going to see for probably a year or more. Not exactly something he can put in his portfolio. I mean, seriously, does this guy go update his LinkedIn every time he gets a new assignment? Or are takedown animations literally the only thing he's done on the project? Which would be insane, since he's EM's senior animator and all the other character animation would need to come first.
The point is: bitching about shit before it's official is dumb.
