The departure of Paul Weir spells trouble with the project, one way or the other...so yes, you are "clutching at straws".
Yeah, because all the people that left Looking Glass during The Dark Project's development really spelled doom. Way to read those tea leaves, Papa Shango.

I see you're having difficulty differentiating between the the word "trouble" and the word "doom". "Trouble" is recoverable, whilst "doom" is not. The only thing doomed is your ability to effectively argue your point...:laff:
Hopefully the THI4F project will recover from its' troubles, yet, as of now, there is plenty to be concerned about.

:eww: Had a private conversation with someone from HL2 Valve here was what he had to say. Not giving names he heard about paul weir been fired or pesonal differences or whatever reason etc. (The few things I've heard about the company process at Eidos do not fill me with confidence. But I'm hoping they learned a lot from Deus Ex and are applying lessons learned to T4. I am cautiously optimistic. Meanwhile, T3 looks better all the time. I think Brosius made a fortune on Rock Band and is not likely to want to put himself under Eidos's thumb even for the sake of Thief...for all I know, those guys are heartily sick of their creation and want nothing to do with it ever again).

With what we've seen, he could've been fired for talking with us as much as he did.
I'm not saying I believe that's the case.

Sounds promising, the list of games that he has been working on previously is quite impressive.

Oh.
It's the DX:HR sound guy.
I'm just going to suggest folk wander around DX:HR, maybe close your eyes and take in the sounds and ambience and then do the same in a 13 year old Thief game or System Shock 2.
And then draw your own conclusions.

With todays technology, practically everything can be handled remotely by the AD,
Except for the whole 'five hour time difference making it so there's only about three hours of in-office overlap, delaying code check-ins and negatively impacting other teams' ability to get their work done' thing.

:laff:...You really should have thought this through before replying.
There wouldn't be any delay, nor impingement on production, because Paul Weir would simply start his workday 5 hours later in London, so as to align the time...This is common practice under these circumstances, and most assuredly was a prerequisite for the position of Audio Director in the first place.

I did think it through. That's not common practice at all when the time difference is that large. Try thinking through why that might be.
