Thief 4 musings... - by EZ-52

I haven't really been keeping up with the Thief 4 progress and news (although from what I can see I haven't really missed anything), but yesterday I found myself thinking about what the final game might be like.
The funny thing was is that, for me anyway, the most prominent thing that I identify Thief with most is the ding-dong sound that plays when you complete or receive an objective.
I remember being rather pleasantly surprised for some odd reason when it returned in Thief: Deadly Shadows.
So, Eidos Montreal team, that the one thing I would like to see most in Thief 4 is that ding-dong sound for completed objectives.
Yup, the first time I actually think about Thief 4 and what I'd like to see and the one thing I come up with is 1 second sound. :erm:

For the loves of our lives, it's often the little things that make them so special.

So true! How many times have a heard a sound and said, "Hey...that's a Thief sound!" Then I start thinking about that sound in the game and end up at the pc...playing Thief.

That's the one thing you are most concerned about? That???

That, and the lockpicking sound. Yeah, I'd like that, too. :p

I think this can really just be boiled down to sound design in general. There's nothing wrong with new sound effects obviously. But from the first game to the third, there's some that have just carried on. The "Objective Complete" noise, like you mentioned, is just damned satisfying.

The original sound when you grabbed loot also should be considered. Its another one of those memorable warm fuzzy sounds.

I definitely want the loot sound in. Just hearing it is pure satisfaction.

*goes to loop it on winamp ad infinitum*

Every time I hear the doorbell ring, I think a creepy stranger prowling around my house without my knowledge or consent stole something of value from me.
