No, as BF-BC2 shows which has an totally awesome PC port they still had to tweak all their mechanics towards the console and its limits of buttons and inaccurate control. so no prone, no lean, aim-help and funny fonts. I guess most will be context-sensitive and the animations locked like in Batman:AA, DeadSpace: yes, I guess there will be animations because the game will be "partly" 3rd person or switchable. If they really release a first person immersive sneaker game with emphasis on SNEAKING and NOT KILLING with a complex controlscheme, each action instant and interupptible and not animation-based I WILL EAT MY SHOES.

Can you even imagine today's typical 14-year old playing a Thief game, lurking patiently in shadows for long agonizing minutes to learn the patrol patterns of some random guard? Didn't think so  Kids who grew up on bloody Counter-Strike and more recent multiplayer fragfests like MW series are not gonna have enough patience or imagination for such "boring" gameplay.
Quit waving that stick Grandad, you'll have someone's eye out! :p
In all seriousness, the average age of gamers on consoles is over 30 too. In fact I'd bet that most gaming PC owners are teenagers with rich parents, parents probably to old to be in to games. (on average)
On the original subject, I swear that I still hear the creaky door sound in all kinds of stuff. (And I just read you mentioned that already) Other great sounds include
Pulling An Arrow From Its Quiver and
Try The Other Lockpick. :) I can't for the life of me remember the objective complete sound though, I clearly need to play more Thief.

The way you worded that was like you were blaming Eidos Montreal for BF-BC2's flaws, which makes no sense considering EM didn't have anything to do with that game. I know what you were trying to say though. (i.e. , all multiplat games ported on pc will be compromised due to focus on console.)
Still though, I wouldn't pass judgment just yet. Hell, they may totally surprise us and not do a console version, or do the console version second. (hey, no problem with dreaming! :P)

My problem with all the gaming industry going south talk is that I think the demand for higher quality will eventually rise again at some point, like a sinus curve maybe...
