Just spreading the FUD. Please join with positive speculations.
From (

Can I be the first to tell you, with good sources backing this, that it will be a VERY action-oriented Thief 4, with plenty of focus on the cool action moves the protagonist will pull out while machine-gunning arrows and the like.
Sadly, I’m serious.
PS: By the by, I have the exact same bad news concerning another major Eidos game for this year; namely, DX3.
Also, in not so much rumor-mongering as general negativity, I noted with interest the reputable former tabletop RPG designer (
http://twitter.com/AllenVarney/status/1763650178) Allen Varney's tweet on the T4 announcement:

Interesting - anyone know anything about this Allen Varney? Not sure how someone could be so negative when the game was just announced. I'd like to know what he's basing his prediction on.
Edit: emailed him we'll see.

Total bullshit.

if the rumor happens to be true, than its a very sad day :erg:

Edit. I posted the wrong thing in the wrong thread. Soz.

That was fast - his response:
Quote:
Eidos is declining, or so I heard last year, and I suspect will be
engulfed or dismantled within the next year or two. Furthermore, the
entire biz model for large AAA single-player games like the Thief
series is looking increasingly untenable nowadays.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I couldn't agree less with that last point. Just look at Fallout 3, Stalker, Deadspace, even Halflife, just to name a few off the top of my head.

Oh, you found him yourself, I see. Extremely nice work, Brethren. Thanks to Varney for replying, too. He is certainly no nobody in the industry.
I own a few of these products, and I remember his articles in Dragon Magazine:
(

MobyGames profile:
(

But it still seems his opinion is mere conjecture at this point.

Most of the other SP games I play are RPGs, I come to Thief for a break of that. Garrett defines the character, and I roleplay him. It's not like Deus Ex where I choose who JC Denton becomes...I don't know what they're talking about, or thinking of, but I hope it's just in terms of how Looking Glass considered Thief an RPG, because that's how I like it.
Huh?

I also would not be surprised if Thief 4 did not ship. I will count it as "released" when I have it in my hands. Remember, Duke Nukem Forever was supposed to be released, and look what happened.
If Thief 4 does end up on shelves, I think it is incumbent on all Thief fans to
buy it. Pirating the game or borrowing it from friends will only help ensure that there is no Thief 5. If Thief 4 turns out to be a high quality game, Eidos deserves to profit from all their efforts. So buy the game, and get your gamer friends to do the same!

I can't see anybody here pirating Thief 4. I think we're all fans enough to want the franchise to succeed.
