I was thinking of doing a Thief 4 trailer for a Motions Graphic class, but then ran into the problem that Garrett is no longer just a Thief, he's a Keeper now. The only Keeper. So, I come to the biggest Thief fans I know to ask the question, what is Garrett like now?
I imagine he sees glyphs as useful tools, like the short cuts in Deadly Shadows, but he wouldn't rely on them, nor use them as a means to gain power. He would use them only when he had to, or when they were convenient. A glyph for making your blackjack take out undead would be handy.
What do you think? Would he still be the same cynical Garret who lives by his own codes? He did make the effort to replace the Chalice and Paw, but he also did tell the little girl he was a Keeper.
So what would Thief 4 be about? Garrett training the girl who saw him as Artemis had trained him before?
Would the Kurshack finally try to take back the surface world, giving the Pagans and Hammerites a common enemy?
Would The City finally go to all-out War with it's enemy city, who perhaps has it's own version of the Keepers?
Would the Trickster be resurrected?
Will we hear more about Benny's ailment?
I'd like to hear what ideas people have.

Well, on one hand, there's no reason to suppose he's acting like the Keepers he loathed. He now can thieve in relative peace and not worry about fulfilling any Keeper prophecies. The Glyphs have all been destroyed, all the Prophecy stopped at Day 8 of the events of TDS, and any glyph shapes remaining are powerless (like the streets that remain which shaped the Final Glyph, the Last of All Glyphs). He's the One True Balance Keeper, not one to live the lifestyle, or practice the discipline, or carefully shifting the weights in the pan. Make him a relaxed Master Thief, who can get away with even more in the short term, as The City and the City Watch have their hands full with the exposed Keeper Compound.
If you'd like, I can pretend otherwise.:cheeky:

Thanks, I'll check it out. I only caught the tail end of that thread and had thought the discussion was about whether there would be an actual game released or not. But I'm also curious as to what people think could happen in the Thief world. Not necessarily what would happen, just what they would like to see.

Yeah, that thread has quite a lot between the news bits, and pushes the envelope of what people may or may not accept.

Thanks again for pointing me to the other thread. It's nice to see that other Thief fans wanted a more challenging expert mode that was all about the sneaking, and that exploring the city was the best part.

Garrett could continue stealing but with a little partner to help him out (kid in TDS). There is always something to steal in thief's world:cheeky:
On the other hand this "little" partner could be the reason for another unearthly secret that could make up the whole story of thief4.
