Don't you think that the story of Garrett is over and they should start with a new character?

Depends! I believe it's possible to do more, separate from the trilogy, but I don't trust anybody involved to be able to do it. I'm in the crowd that doesn't care, as long as it's done intelligently, respectfully, and thinking outside the corporate box, resulting in a product that I would be very pleasantly surprised to enjoy on many many levels, as with the established trilogy. We know Stephen Russell can do other voices and characters, and we hope he's a major part of whatever the next project is, if not the main character.
The game will have to be multi-layered, made for smart adults with an inner child and which appeals to people of all ages, multi-cultured, not take itself seriously while still creating strong suspense and fear of getting caught, literate, incorporate the architecture and fashion and art-forms of multiple time periods, have distinct factions, allow for all the classic playstyles, and it needs to re-emphasize much stronger stealth and non-combat while allowing people to give in to bloodlust--but with stronger consequences. I could play another character if the fabric of that universe is in place, and I could ignore the existence of the game if it's too re-imagined and cannot be placed comfortably alongside the trilogy.
It's going to be another year, at least, starting from when the game finally goes into production, before we see what they are doing to or with "our" beloved City.
If they start with Garrett's older brother, blood-locked into a similar destiny, in another City-like city, with a different trio of factions falling into a similar dichotomy, where everything's the same yet different--except the magic and elemental components of that world must remain the same--I could give it a chance, knowing it's not meddling with Garrett's story. I also don't want it to just seem to be an FM campaign put out by a gaming company, either. Even if it's goofy and silly and sly I want to sense the brains behind it. And bring back someone who can write like Laura Baldwin! Let's take on pirates, bring back the thieves, the burricks, and all the other things I've already said in the (

I don't know if Garrett story is over and if they will use a new character but if the don't use Garrett i simply will not buy the game.

Kin: Why? Looks like Thief2X was a very successful expansion and a lot of people liked it despite the new character. The same situation is with CoSaS - We have a new character, yet I love the missions.

Did Kin like those games, and if so, didn't Kin go into them knowing they aren't official games from a game company expecting money for compensation to play, and knowing they were made with blood, sweat, and tears, over a period of years, for free, by fans, and knowing they did not feature Garrett, nor were they trying to fill those boots?
If a gaming company is going to make a game and call it Thief, but they don't include the classic core elements that gave the older titles such an unmatched feel on so many levels, then the game's title should be changed, or it's false advertising, now that it's a brand. Unfortunately, they will likely trim off what they think is frivolous, or unfashionable, or looked down on by another group of gamers that have barely touched or don't even know Thief that they want to make money off of. I expect to hear how they've adapted the game to reach a new demographic and introduce them to The City and its characters, when they really mean they've compromised Thief and made it simpler for more people, made it go down smoother fro the common folk, cut out more of the heart.... But I'm not worried about it, as they have nothing to show, yet.
I hope it's either so different it's not even on my radar, or it dovetails nicely with the trilogy in an interesting way. As one of the few working on the wiki and encyclopaedia, I've already got years of hobby work ahead of me without this game potentially screwing canon.

I played thief2X because it was "made with blood, sweat, and tears, over a period of years,
for free, by fans" and needed to thank those people for that.
I won't buy a thief 4 game without Garrett as the
main character because thief game is a story about a thief named Garrett and not some character that copies him plus it will cost about
50$.
There are some things i just
like and some things i would
pay for.
If you ask me "would you have payed for a T2X" then i would say yes.

Lesseeee...Garrett would have to morph into an Artemus father-figure type, not worry about competition, nor going legit, or splitting his loot, spending his time watching after the grubby cub for things she's not capable of handling yet.
Maybe she has a destiny to resurrect the Glyphs and control them, lest she fall into temptation and be controlled by them (another sequel and the aged Garrett has to kill her as his final grudging act of heroism). I know it's hard for taffers to remember or realize how danged dangerous the Glyphs are, and that they have a will of their own, and can twist minds, become addictive, and make the users complacent and taking the Glyphs for granted.

I'd say Garrett's story is over - or should be. At least, if we're talking about him as the player character. In all the Thief games, Garrett's main motivation was getting enough money to be able to comfortably retire, IIRC. If I'm not mistaken, one of the mission goals for THC says something to that effect.
If we get another Thief game, it would be nice if it took place in the same world, the same city. That's why I like Thief 2x or CoSaS so very much - it's the same setting but with a different protagonist (whether you like the new one or not is a different story).
If we get another Thief, I would like to see more of the city and more of some of the rarer factions, too. It would be nice to play a "normal" thief and maybe only experience the events form the game from the outside and only peripheral to your own goals. The wardens and the nobles have so much potential for faction bickering that a entrepeneurial thief could very well get some money on the side acting as a spy for one or the other.
One big question is, what is Garrett at the end of TDS? Does he continue as before or does he accept his Keeper destiny and rebuild the Keeper order?
I'd like to say yes to the second part, as that is the way I interpret the last cutscene.
But to be honest, the episode with the little girl and Garrett's smirk might not be more than him remembering his own beginnings... and leave it at that. After all, Garrett hasn't shown that much propensity for learning from his mistakes.
