I signed it. I don't think it's the end of the world, but hell, I would like to have old Garrett back.
It's not the end of the world, but it's the right thing to do.
As for bigger, well...lets brain storm some ideas. Lets get crazy and get everyone's attention.

The sperglords that serve as moderators over at the eidos forums won't even have a thread for a petition. They keep deleting them.

One of us dresses up as Garrett and climbs on the top of Eidos Montreal's building, then records a voice memo on our smartphone where we say
"My job tonight is to break into Eidos Montreal and swap out the voice files in their final build of Thief 4... it has to be tonight, because the game goes gold tomorrow... this is a contract job from a mysterious buyer who only referred to themselves by the initials TTLG... they provided a disc with the replacement voice files so all I should have to do is swap it without being seen. May as well get started, every Frenchy developer who is going to go home tonight already has, and the rest should have headphones on if I'm lucky."and then lowers down through the air vents...
Really? NO ONE TOLD ME POTENTIAL FELONIES WERE INVOLVED! I'LL GO! :thumb:

Steven: We’re absolutely huge fans of Stephen’s work on the classic Thief games. But when it came down to it, we ultimately realized that holding onto Steven as the voice of Garrett just for the sake of our nostalgia would be like wanting to cast Sean Connery again in the new 007 movies... It’s a nice thought, but honestly, it wouldn’t make sense for anything else other than nostalgia.
Not only is this a completely bogus comparison, but it's pretty f***cking disrespectful. It isn't in any way the same. The only time the mocap even matters is during cutscenes and it isn't the sodding cutscenes that make a game. Unless we're going to have a bunch of retarded "press X to enter 3rd person silent kill," in which case his mouth is covered by a mask anyway.
I would be less mad if they never tried to contact Russell. The fact that they had him come in and record lines, then
still decide to go with someone else is horrible.
So far Garrett sounds no different than any other gruff male protagonist. It's f***ing Jason Statham with a poorly disguised accent.

If this isn't a proof they never gave a flying f*** about our opinions, then I don't know what it is.

All I know is it needs...I mean
NEEDS...to end in some sort of hostage situation.
But to start off small, why don't you email a link to the petition to the guys at Rock Paper Shotgun?

Aw, naw, man. Comeon. He doesn't sound any more gruff and badass than Garrett did in the originals. Just younger...and with a slight accent.

I know you joke about everything, but I'm being serious. Within this community are some of the most creative minds around. We could come up with some truly original and respectful ways to gain attention and momentum for this cause.
Rock Paper Shotgun has been emailed.

What NH said: please do, Taffers. The damned petition isn't working for me.
Not that it would make a bit of difference, regardless of what we do. Sounds like EM's made up their collective (moronic) minds.
Sad.

With that level of disrespect and flipping us off, and the addition of that weird loot collection fetish, I now imagine Garrett's acquired some quirks akin to a serial killer, taking trophies, taking a person's essence or power in a prized object, rather than just humiliating the owner by depriving them and selling those special items off. I was starting to warm up to Gallagher, but now I'm thinking he's just a wiseass. It will take a lot of strength and some really clever ideas to keep things respectful on our end.
