I am being serious about the latter half. You have a year at least to think of something bigger, but you can email RPS in the next 5 minutes and get a nice gauge of how important an issue this is to people beyond TTLG.
Edit: You ninja'd on me. Good deal.

The sperglords that serve as moderators over at the eidos forums won't even have a thread for a petition. They keep deleting them.
Really...I might have to test that theory. Not that I've ever read them, but I don't see how posting something like that could violate the TOS.
Edit: Thanks NH, I got a kick out of your quick signing and mention of the media. :laff:

Not that it would make a bit of difference, regardless of what we do. Sounds like EM's made up their collective (moronic) minds.
Exactly. You're wasting your collective time. The petition isn't going to make one lick of difference, especially this late in the game, at least in my opinion. Good luck with your petition and all. What's even the point of the petition if EM employees or higher ups don't even see it? You'd have to get written confirmation and some sort of reaction by them for this to even be worth the trouble.
I'm sorry, but I actually am agreeing with Renzatic. I'll admit, I wanted to hate this game so bad and be angry with them for changing it, but almost everything I've seen about the game suggests to me that I'm wrong, and before I make my final judgment call I have to have even more information. I do admit I'm rather disappointed that Russell isn't in, but I'm not going to completely write off the game because of it. (Now if this was actually a real sequel, I'd definitely be pissed off, and they damn well have a better excuse than the one their giving now.)
Renz', you won't be alone if shit hits the fan dude. I'll be right there with you.;)

I (and many others) have found that Eidos Forums TOU seem to fluctuate according to .... well, maybe the weather? Make sure you put lots of rainbow & unicorn gifs all over your post and maybe that'll work. I don't know, but good luck.
;)

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Here's the digest version of how I see New Thief.
So you've got your own artistic vision? Your own idea of The City. That's cool. You want to change the gameplay a bit, expand upon Garrett's repertoire of sneaky tricks and ways to get out of trouble? Hey. I'm fine with that. A new actor in place of Stephen Russell? Meeehhhh...I'm not thrilled about that, but I can deal with it, so long as he's a good actor, and you don't change the character so much he doesn't seem like Garrett anymore.
But I'll tell you what, EM. You got to justify all these changes to me, and you can do that by making something that's
at least as deep, mysterious, tense, and entertaining as the games that bear the same name. You do that, and I'll easily be able to accept your vision of Thief. Different doesn't necessarily mean bad, so long as it's all done for good reasons.

This attitude isn't helpful, and if you really think that maybe you could have been kind enough to just keep that thought inside your brain rather than sowing seeds of discouragement?
If it's pointless, it can't hurt to try either... so just let us try. If you aren't willing to even sign a petition, well... at least don't try to drag us down? Pretty please?
I think the game will probably be quite good, or else I wouldn't care. I loved Human Revolution. It wasn't perfect, but it did a better job living up to Deus Ex than I expected in this day and age.
Maybe a petition or whatever else we try (like convincing them we'd pay for a Russell voice pack DLC) IS pointless, but then again... there have been success stories with petitions before. One thing is certain; they can't happen if everyone thinks like you are.
